Warung Pantai Indah — Restaurant in Denpasar Selatan

This warung is in a magnificent spot and the only one along this stretch where you can actually sit on the beach with your feet in the sand.

We come here every time we visit Sanur (once or twice a year) and always enjoy a few drinks late afternoon.

The downside to this place, which from the reviews many see as an upside, is the amount of dogs that hang around there, I think mostly owned by expat locals (but not sure). We love dogs but not when they are peeing all over the furniture you’re sitting on and worse allowed to sit on the tables that people are eating on. Every time we think about ordering food we are put off by the latter. Only yesterday we saw one of the sausage dogs that frequent this warung pee on the seat in front of us and proceed to jump up and sit on the next dining table. Not great from a hygiene perspective. If this changed we would love to enjoy some food with our beers and wine at some point in the future. Just a thought guys....

We were received by a friendly member of staff and placed our orders: barbecue grilled calamari and snapper fish -which come with steamed rice, sauces and spinach on water- and we asked for the fish to be grilled plain (with none of the Balinese sauces / pastes) and a couple of Bintang beers…

The calamari was all right (but a very small portion) and the fish was quite bad! Really not fresh nor tasty (tbh quite horrible, especially compared to the grilled barbecue fish we had the day before at Jimbaran beach..)

The prices were more expensive than Jimbaran too, which adds to the disappointment.

And we were trying to share the feedback when we were paying the bill, the guy wouldn’t even listen, just a mechanical yes ok..

This place was mentioned in Lonely Planet guide (SEA from 2018 so outdated clearly 🥲) so not sure if it used to be great -presumably- but it unfortunately...

We have been back many times now and bringing friends and family. We all enjoy the food and view. Lovely family running the place. Food is tasty and plentiful, and a lovely view of the water.

There seating inside and the outside seating on the sand with undisturbed view of the water.

They are just next to Peneeda View Beach hotel and you can also access to it from Jl. Pantai Indah.

There is a toilet, basic but clean everytime we were there.

Definitely a favourite...
