"A Pleasant Surprise at La Cucina in Labuan Bajo"
During my recent visit to Labuan Bajo, I had the opportunity to dine at La Cucina, an Italian restaurant that's making a name for itself with its coastal charm and impressive service.
The first thing that strikes you about La Cucina is its decor. Perfectly suited for its beachside location, the restaurant exudes a relaxed, yet sophisticated ambiance. The use of light, airy colors and nautical-themed accents immediately sets a tone that is both welcoming and appropriately thematic.
As for the food, the pasta is undoubtedly the star of the show. It was evident that the pasta was fresh, offering a delightful texture that you can only get from handcrafted noodles. While the other dishes were generally okay, nothing particularly stood out in terms of flavor or presentation. They were satisfying but didn't leave a lasting impression.
However, where La Cucina truly shines is in its service. From the moment we stepped in, the staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely invested in ensuring we had a great dining experience. They were knowledgeable about the menu, offered great wine pairing suggestions, and were prompt without being intrusive.
In conclusion, La Cucina offers a pleasant dining experience in Labuan Bajo. While the food may not be groundbreaking, the fresh pasta and the impeccable service more than make up for it. It's a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy a relaxed meal with a view, coupled with service that makes you feel like a...
Read moreOur experience at La Cucina, an Italian restaurant nestled in the heart of Indonesia, was a blend of satisfaction and room for improvement. The highlight was the pizza, which, given the context of being in Indonesia, was quite enjoyable. However, it didn’t quite reach the level of authenticity one might expect in Italy. The pizza’s dough was slightly undercooked, impacting its texture, and the quality of the salami was not at the highest tier.
A notable detail for fellow diners is that the prices listed on the menu did not include a 10% tax, which was an unexpected addition to the final bill. Despite this, the overall dining experience was enjoyable. The restaurant’s interior exuded a cozy charm, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere.
The service at La Cucina was swift, ensuring we didn’t have to wait excessively for our meals. An important tip to consider is that reservations are essential if you plan on dining at the restaurant after 19:00, which indicates its popularity during peak hours.
In summary, La Cucina offers a decent Italian dining experience in Indonesia, but there’s potential for refinement. The pizza, while not a perfect match for Italy, was satisfying given the location. The pleasant interior and quick service added to the overall positive impression, although the surprise tax inclusion is something to...

After a big win of voters, we decisively went to La Cucina for early dinner, only to find the place is crowded. We were lucky to get seats for 12 people on separate table. The waitress started to give free pizza which is good. We ordered lots of food, pasta and pizzas. But the wait time were long, and they gave us bread compliments, again. The pasta is quite ok but a bit hard. Pizza is not so good, probably they don’t do enough thawing or oven-fire the pizza too quickly. In overall, food is just fine, but not great. Price is moderate. Then a tour guide started to "negotiate" with the waitress to push them to serve his clients faster than the queue. So the manager had argument with the tour guide at the main entrance which is quite disturbing.
The interior is Mediterranean, in blue and white, and worn painted wooden seats and tables, which is quite lovely. The resto has a balcony viewing the Labuan Bajo sea port.
The bakery is so tempting. So I bought crostata mini, which is a Nutella pie. That’s the sweet dessert for the day. Then we crossed the street to make an errand to Roxy supermarket.
Free wifi and it's working. La Cucina serves...
