This place was so good we had to come back a second time. If you’re looking for authentic Indonesia food that’s equally as excellent in price and taste, then this is the restaurant to eat at. We were travelling with a group of 11 people and managed to order quite a lot of food. Hard to believe but there wasn’t one bad dish. In fact after travelling for a couple of weeks around Java this restaurant was one of the best tasting.
It’s the perfect place to discover the many dishes Indonesia has to offer. Especially when street food might be something you need to be cautious of when first arriving.
From the famous satay chicken, to a variety of vegetarian dishes like Gado Gado, Corn fritters and many other options, this place has it all. We ordered the Nasi Goreng with Chicken Katsu and that was delicious. Probably one of the tastiest things was the Mie Ayam Jamur. A staple favourite with locals and is an easy and super tasty noodle dish with small chicken and mushroom pieces. You absolutely should order one when eating here.
Our kids loved all the food (especially the satay chicken) and that can be hard when they’re picky eaters. Well done Suta and team. Great service, great prices (like pretty damn cheap compared to Australia), a gorgeous sunset view and brilliant food. Oh and the dart board was a winner with the kids.
We’ll definitely be back when we’re next in...
Read moreHaving read all the reviews and passed the restaurant several times with my husband nagging to eat there, we finally decided to go up the windy stairs, and I’m so very glad we did. Originally not sure if there was enough for our fussy boys, the menu was typically Indonesian, we went in anyway. Met immediately with two friendly faces, big smiles and a genuine warm manner about them we were seated in a near empty restaurant. We ordered our food and waited. The boys were offered to go and play darts or uno stack if they wanted, and the genuine manner of all the staff continued throughout. The food came out and it was exceptional. Taste, presentation and portion size perfect. The teriyaki was deliciously spicy but not too much, the fish with black pepper sauce was pokey and fab, both boys polished off their chicken katsu, minus the sauce( lovely but not how they know it, so asked for it on the side. Nothing too much trouble. By the time we’d finished what was a delicious meal the restaurant was absolutely jam packed with people waiting for a table, and rightly so, it was by far the best restaurant we had eaten in in Labuan Bajo. The best surprise was to come- having played the guess the bill card, we all came in ridiculously over in our estimations!
So to sum up- best meal, best service and cheapest price! Fabulous...
Read moreAmong the flood of western restaurants by the bay side in Labuan Bajo, this local eatery seems to stand out due to its glowing reviews. It has seating on the second level, so be prepared to climb a small flight of winding stairs and make your way to a spacious space with ample tables for you to sit on. The menu is extensively Indonesian, offering chicken, seafood, and vegetable dishes. I chose a portion of the Ayam Satay, which is chicken satay along with the Ikam Manis or fried fish in a sweet and sour sauce. The chicken satays were excellent, served with a thick peanut sauce. The meat was tender and flavourful with 5 satays in one portion. The fish was well made, too, in a flavour sauce topped with slivers of onions and chillis. Unfortunately, they did not have coconut water, but they offer a variety of drinks and beer, too. My two dishes cost me 141,000 IDR. The real highlight of the place is the service by Marcelina. A smiling, talkative server who speaks excellent English and knows to charm guests instantly. She even sang me a Bollywood song in near perfect Hindi. She adds the X factor to this place. Go...
