We finally visited this popular place for lunch and ordered two of their signature dishes i.e. the soto mie bihun and mie sapi tauco which are two different types of beef noodle soups. Both are good and most people recommends the soto mie but we actually like the mie sapi tauco better because it is unique noodle soup with chunky beef cuts and fragrant soup from fermented beans (tauco). We also took a box of their famous minced chicken bun (roti baso ayam) to enjoy at home. The chicken bun is good, but quite expensive and a bit too sweet for my taste.
The ambience of the place is nice with huge and bright space. Customer services from floor staff members are quite good and attentive. Prices on the menu are reasonable, though the chicken bun is quite pricey IMHO (size is quite small). The other good thing is you don't pay service charge here like in the mall's restaurants, only the usual PB1 tax. You can pay with EFTPOS with no problem...
Read moreCome here with my fams, ordered 4 kind of menus. Soto mie - it taste good with enough limau (I don't think it's lime) already added, only need some chili to adhere to my palate. Mie TomYum - ok this one is strong, it's spicy (even for me who got quite tolerance to spices) and the sourness give refreshing taste. Careful to those who had gastritis though, might be too much for ur stomach. Mie Sapi Tauco - it's quite ok, but I think the taste is similar to other Indonesian menu called mie kangkung, although the taste in Henis is very mild/subtle. Kwetiau siram sapi - quite like it, although the taste is quite standard like most kwetiau siram. Although thanks to the beef it became quite worthy for the price. I do think the beef in Henis is quite special, it got nice tender textures and still got chewiness to it. Basically, IMO mie sapi tauco & kwetiau siram sapi are saved by the beef else...
Read moreI went for breakfast. The place looks good with a lot of staff trying to look busy. There is nothing on menu that looks even vaguely like Chinese, Indonesian or Western breakfast. There is no coffee. I ordered Kwetiau Goreng noodles. That took 15 mins. Served with chopsticks. Tastes okay. I also ordered hot lemon tea. It came after 5 mins and was too sweet to drink. I then ordered plain hot tea. It was a very strong taste and I drank half. Why does nobody in Indonesia ever ask 'How was your meal' or inquire why I didn't drink my tea? Why do they never offer the bill at end of meal? Why doesn't anybody great guest with a hearty Good Morning? When I went to cashier she was insistant an charging for both undrinkable drinks. I asked for a manager but apparently there is none in the morning! She offered to take Visa card but it was rejected so I paid in cash. I left hungry and thirsty. I...
