There are not many places that offer Indian cuisine in Jakarta, not to mention the fusion kind since the authentic indian cuisine incorporate such heavy notes of herbs and seasoning. So I was lucky enough to come by this restaurant. Tucked in the corner of the Plaza Festival building 1st floor, it was accessible from the 1st floor of the building or you can go straight through the stairs from outside next to Lucky Cat Coffee & Kitchen. The ambiance was a bit here and there for me, a mixture of cafe styled outdoor seating, huge bar table, and elegant and classy entrance with black and white checkered tiles and warm lighting. Nice. I tried some of their menu with fellow foodies to get a taste of what Indian fusion has to offer. For the mains, we had Spaghetti with Butter Garlic and Butter Chicken Sauce, Tandoori Chicken Pizza, Kahdai Chicken Pizza, and Mutton Seekh Kebab with Naan. There were also Butter Chicken Curry, Kahdai Chicken Curry accompanied with Cheese Naan, and Garlic Naan. I need to highlight the Spaghetti with Butter Garlic and Butter Chicken Sauce, it was great. Nice texture for the pasta, well executed sauce topped with buttery but non overwhelming chicken. Furthermore, I am an avid garlic enthusiast so I really appreciate their garlic butter note on the spaghetti. Another star for me was the Mutton Seekh Kebab with Naan, despite the not-so-appealing form, I take the term 'not to judge a book by its cover' to heart. It was basically deconstructed lamb kebab, lamb was pleasant with a touch of herbs, and there were no noticeable typical lamb smell. It was served with a smear of greenish sauce and caramelized onion, so the onion made such a supporting role here, green sauce was supposedly contributed for the light yet creamy taste of herbs. For the Pizzas, both the Tandoori Chicken Pizza and Kadhai Chicken Pizza are tasty. The difference was in the slightly different taste and appearance. Tandoori Chicken Pizza was dominated with yellow and green color while the Kadhai Chicken Pizza was dominated with red and yellow color. I guess there's notable tomato in the Kadhai Chicken Pizza, but both of the pizzas featured chicken, onion, and green pepper covered in cheese. I liked them both. I mean, who doesn't like chicken and cheese with a hint of onion and pepper? But I need to note that the base/crust might get hard if you left it for too long. I need some effort to chew down the crust, and it was not the type of airy, raised bread crust, but more like a traditional take on the indian baked bread, so you might want to gobble down while its hot. Whats Indian food without some curry, right? We got Butter Chicken Curry and Kadhai Chicken Curry accompanied with Cheese Naan and Garlic Naan. Butter Chicken Curry named after its buttery and light creamy flavor take on curry whereas Kadhai Chicken Curry maintains its redness acquired from tomato as on of its ingredients. I can't really choose what's better really, they are both unique in their own way, Kadhai Chicken Curry went along pretty well with the Cheese Naan in my opinion, and I would like to pair the Garlic Naan with the Butter Chicken Curry since the respective Naan complements the curry and gave some kind of balancing effect. For the drinks, I had Buttermilk with the concept of sweet, buttery milk and subtle caramel taste in mind. Turned out it was light traditional yogurt with a twist of herbs that similar to those of coriander. It was new and exciting for me, imagine drinking watery and light churned buttery sour milk with salt and coriander and some other spice. But if you're new to this whole indian cuisine and herbs, you better start off small with something familiar like Mango Lassi that's equivalent to mango yogurt which is less sour and familiar to most taste. And time came for dessert, we had Gulab Jamun with Ice Cream, this was sweet brown caramelized balls made from milk and herbs, sweet and spicy, I sensed some ginger and maybe cardamom in it. All topped with vanilla ice cream. like most indian dessert, the sweetness was usually pretty strong,

Price: 34k tl;dr : Authentic Indian restaurant that also serves as a late night bar/club. If you’re looking for a great Indian restaurant in Jakarta that serves an authentic flavor at an affordable price, look no further. This is your spot. Located at the back of Plaza Festival, this hidden gem is sligthtly difficult to find but you’d be so glad you did find this place. Every single item that I had over in this place is just amazing. Indian food might be intimidating for some of us that aren’t familiar with the dishes and I hope that this review will encourage everyone here to give it a try. For newbies, you should try out their taugadi kebab/ chicken malai tikka. They bring out the whole grill itself on the table and serve these perfectly grilled chicken thighs on the traditional kebab skewers. I am impressed for sure. Add some of the tangy green chutney and grilled onions to complete the experience. Thirsty? A classic drink to have is mango lassi whenever you’re eating Indian food. This slightly tangy yogurt drink will help neutralize the heat you get from spicy Indian food for sure. Moving on, I tried their naans (garlic, butter) and two different types of curry ( butter chicken and mutton curry). Huge portion size with generous amount of chicken and mutton. Mutton is notorious for its gaminess and tough texture but D’Bollywood managed to reduce that gaminess and made it unbelievably tender! Clearly, this is a restaurant that has mastered the art of cooking mutton. The mutton curry is slightly spicy, but when combined with the naan, it’s excellent. For those that aren’t good with spicy food, just stick to butter chicken. This dish is slightly sweet and tangy from the tomatoes used in the preparation process and will suit the tastebuds of everyone, including kids. Finally, I also tried their mutton biryani and once again, their mutton is amazingly tender. However, the thing that really stood out was how rich-tasting the biryani rice was. As told by the owner, they added some ghee to the rice after cooking it. Even though the basmati rice is fluffy, it’s not dry thanks to the ghee. This dish was definitely my favorite. As for desserts, Indian cuisine definitely goes all out and will satisfy anyone who loves their sweets. I am one of them. Gulab jamun is a fried dough that’s dipped into a super sweet spiced syrup (cardamom and saffron). Personally, my favorite Indian dessert is the kheer, a rice pudding made with milk and sugar. Unlike the usual white kheer you find in other Indian restaurants, D’Bollywood uses saffron in their kheer, resulting in a yellow looking kheer that’s much better than the original kind.

I personally enjoy Indian cuisine, full of flavours and spices also they have option for vegetarian dishes. Some might say that Indian cuisine were too strong, the taste as well as the smell. D'bollywood located inside ...... Not difficult to spot. The place for me was a bit dark not enough lights maybe because the color for the interiors they chose maroon and black. At night it might be brighter. The dining areas were semi outdoor, not a fan especially if crowded since it would be mixed with smokes. I had Butter chicken (142k) and chicken biryani 131k, with garlic naan (25k) and tandoori (22k). The portion were big, you may share and the chicken were tender. For drinks we tried masala chai varian ginger for 36k.

The best thing about this restaurant is its location. Next to GOR Soemantri, its perfectly placed to refuel after a run on the track or a climb on the climbing wall. Quality and taste of food is very good. prices i felt are slightly high but reasonable. you get good live music, the guy has Sonu Nigams voice, and sings perfectly well. you can even request your favorite songs, i did a few and he was spot on. service is really good. located inside plaza festival , which is a good location for food and shopping .
