A Taste of New York in Jakarta – Ciao, New York Night at Dining Room, Park Hyatt Jakarta
I recently had the pleasure of attending the Ciao, New York Night at the Dining Room in Park Hyatt Jakarta, and it was a truly memorable experience. The evening was a beautiful blend of culinary excellence and refined ambience, perfectly curated to evoke the spirit of New York.
Food & Ambience The food was absolutely excellent — each dish thoughtfully prepared and presented with flair. The ambience was on-point, striking a balance between elegance and warmth, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the evening. The New York theme was well-executed, and the overall vibe felt cosmopolitan yet inviting.
Service Service was impeccable. A special shout-out to our servers, Amel, who was attentive, friendly, and made the experience even more enjoyable. Her professionalism and warmth added a personal touch that elevated the evening.
Suggestions for Improvement While the overall experience was fantastic, I do have a couple of suggestions that could make future events even better:
Menu Consistency: The inclusion of Indonesian dishes felt slightly out of place given the New York theme. While I appreciate the nod to local flavors, a more cohesive menu would enhance the thematic experience. Beverage Options: The dinner package only included water, and while I understand there’s a separate drink package, it felt a bit limiting. Not everyone wants premium liquor or expensive beverages — offering a few refreshing non-alcoholic options like fresh juices or mocktails as part of the main package would be a welcome addition. Dessert Selection: The desserts were delightful, but I couldn’t help but notice the absence of some iconic New York treats. Including classics like black and white cookies, babka, or even Magnolia Bakery-style cupcakes would have been a nostalgic and thematic touch.
Overall, Ciao, New York Night was a wonderful experience that I’d gladly recommend. With a few tweaks, it could go from great to exceptional. Kudos to the team at Park Hyatt Jakarta for bringing a slice of New York to the city — I look forward to future...
Read moreDuring my stay, I enjoyed breakfast here for five days and had dinner once. Located on the 22nd floor, the restaurant offers a wide panoramic view, with a 180-degree look over Jakarta city.
The breakfast staff were always warm and smiling. In addition to the buffet selection, guests are also given a menu with a variety of classic breakfast dishes as well as Indonesian specialties. The best part is that these items are freshly made to order and unlimited. The staff were even happy to arrange for special Indonesian dishes not listed on the menu or buffet — and they would be ready and served automatically the next morning!
Breakfast included unique milk varieties, enzyme drinks, freshly cooked Indonesian noodles, salads, yogurt, cereals, Danish pastries, croissants, stir-fried vegetables, and a wide range of Indonesian beef, chicken, and fish dishes.
Dinner at the Dining Room was a buffet-style meal. We opted for the free-flow champagne and wine package, enjoying sparkling wine, red and white wine, champagne, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks.
Beyond the delicious food, what impressed me most was the staff service. During dinner, after I filled a plate and was about to return to my seat, more than one staff member offered to carry my plate to the table so I could continue serving myself at the buffet without interruption.
Dining here was such a joy — every day, I looked...
Read moreWe stayed here for our 1st-anniversary staycation. We love our breakfast view. This place is located on level 22, which allows us to see the skyline of Jakarta. We love the atmosphere too! The design looks really elegant.
The service level was alright. It can definitely be improved; for example, the waiters forgot our order twice. However, they are really friendly.
What disappointed us was the food. There's a very minimal selection in the buffet area, and a few items were sold out on the à la carte menu. The peak of our disappointment was the 'OFF' mortadella. We are from Sydney, and we are used to eating all kinds of charcuterie. My husband loves to eat it, and he consumes mortadella quite often, having tried many kinds like Mortadella di Prato, Compotosto, etc. However, we were sure that this one was off. It tasted very sour and smelly. Even a person who never eats mortadella would know that it's not edible. We complained to the waitress, and the plate was taken to the kitchen. Then, the manager on shift came (dining in on 23/10/23) and said that the kitchen had tasted it, and it's supposed to be like that, with no apology or anything. We are unsure if they really tasted it. This is definitely not acceptable for a...
