The taste of the food is always consistent and whatever food I ordered is delicious. I usually order: Tahu kipas: fried stuffed beancurd with prawn and vegetables for appetizer. Sate ayam/kulit: chicken/chicken skin satay (mix of grilled chicken meat and skin with peanut sauce), the best peanut sauce which i never found in other places, the chicken meat is fat free and the chicken skin is tasty. Ayam goreng kremes: Indonesian crunchy fried chicken with coconut crunch (1portion get rice and 2 chicken - breast and tight) served with Indonesian vegetable in tamarind soup (sayur asem). Lodeh: Vegetable in coconut milk. Gurame pesmol: fried gourami fish with turmeric and other spices, my mom's fav. Tongseng: lamb stew in tasty coconut soup with cabage. Soto betawi: betawi beef curry. Nasi kuning campur: turmeric rice with assortment of meat and vegetables. Tahu telur: fried tofu and egg with boiled beansprout and cabage, served in seasoned soy sauce and with 1 prawn pancake. for beverage, my favourites are wedang asle (an assortment of green bean, peanuts, red pearl, green sweet noodle jelly, bread, and gomuti palm fruit in warm coconut milk), es kelapa jeruk (young coconut in orange juice), teh jawa (javanese tea). All food and beverage were served in big portion except satay...
Read moreThe service was awful. We ordered for 5 people and came as 6 orders, which we easily waived, but some of the orders arrived really late and it was stone cold as if the food have been sitting in a fridge for a long time (even the plate was cold). The service was all over the place and even though I understand that we came during lunch hours, but the kitchen staff were not prepared for it, and we unfortunately paid the price. update Against my better judgement, came there the second time, and just like I predicted, the quality haven't improved since. Some of the order arrived really late, and the quality is just sub par. The staffs are clearly not handled for lunch hour rush, it generate this curiosity about the system that they're running behind the counter. Also it'll be better for them to provide some sort of feedback form or if they already have one put it in each table. The customers aren't happy and they should take notice of that. My final final verdict: don't go to this...
Read moreSate Khas Senayan is one of the best place to have Indonesian cuisine. Though its name has "Sate" in it, sate is not the only culinary delights they offer. They offer various traditional dishes almost from every part of Indonesia, from Nasi Bali, Nasi Liwet, Nasi Uduk, Nasi Bakar, Soto, Sop and many others.
This place is quite roomy though will only hold a limited amount of people due to Covid-19 health protocol restriction. It's usually almost full especially during lunch time.
I had their Nasi Liwet for lunch. What came was more than I had expected. The meal was presented beautifully. Though Nasi Liwet is a common meal, "Sate Khas Senayan" has managed to elevate the dish up several notch. The plating has made "Nasi Liwet" feels classy.
On the taste department, their "Nasi Liwet" was tasty and authentic. The elements combined beautifully.
Cheers!
