Come here to have family and friends lunch. I have to say, their food is absolutely delicious. The view and the interior are truly breathtaking. It is hard to believe that you can get a bit of green in the hustle bustle city of Jakarta. Their landscaping are so beautiful and carefully planned.
Sop Buntut 5/5 : The meat is tender, the broth is fragrant and the saltiness is just perfect. Bakwan Jagung 5/5 : Crispy, fragrant and delicious. Lontong Lebaran 5/5 : Rendang super juicy and smothered with lots of herbs and gravy, Tempe Orek one of the best I have tried, thinly sliced and fried until crispy covered with sweet and salty seasoning, Kentang Balado, perfect amount of chili and very tender, Telur Kecap the outer white egg is hard but the center is fluffy, Tahu dan Kentang Kecap, really absorb the seasoning and the soy sauce, Opor Ayam with white gravy, big cut of chicken and so good, not spicy so little kid can enjoy it. Buncis Daging 5/5 : Crispy Green Bean and sweet minced meat. Shrimp Ball 5/5 : Served in big dessert spoon with housemade tomato ketchup, tasty, the kids favorite.
After all the top notch review, sadly I have to mention about the baby chair which liked to be neglected at most restaurant. The baby chair are dirty and looked like never desinfect thoroughly, little ants keep coming out even though I tried to clean it twice with hand sanitizer. They did replace with new one but still very dirty and has lots of stain. I actually expect more considering Plataran is a 5 star restaurant. Still I have to say, Yuk Bisa Yuk!
Do I will be coming back? Definitely Yes!
And oh, their restroom is very clean and has a comforting citrusy smell. Does the area is accessible for wheelchair? YES!
Thank you Hutan Kota by Plataran for the...
Read moreCame to GBK Stadium this morning after reading online about a Sunday Zumba class that supposedly would "revitalize your energy centers" or something. Sarah's been telling me I need more cardio.
Let me tell you - GBK Park is MASSIVE. Spent 45 minutes wandering around concrete paths that led nowhere, following signs in Indonesian that could've been saying "Zumba this way" or "Beware of tigers" for all I knew. Worked up quite a sweat in the Jakarta humidity.
After giving up on finding the Zumba class (probably for the best - my attempt at Zumba in 2019 ended with me pulling my groin), I stumbled upon Plataran restaurant and decided my body deserved some comfort food.
Ordered the rendang croquettes and a latte. The croquettes were PHENOMENAL - crispy golden exterior that made this perfect crackling sound when you bit into it, like a perfect slapshot hitting the crossbar. Inside was this beautifully spiced beef rendang that managed to be both tender and intensely flavored. They served it with this slightly spicy sambal sauce that had just enough heat to make you notice but not enough to overwhelm. The contrast between the crispy shell and the rich, complex rendang filling was better coordinated than the Sedins' cycle game in their prime.
The latte was expertly made with a little leaf design on top. Perfect temperature too - not the scalding hot coffee that Sandra (first wife) used to make.
So while I missed out on embarrassing myself at Zumba, I discovered a culinary gem. Sometimes getting lost leads to the best discoveries.
Highly recommend if you're at GBK Stadium - just bring a compass or maybe a trail of breadcrumbs to find your...
Read moreIt was my first time visiting this place. A bit confused at first, so I‘ll share the experience in case anyone needs it.
So first, make a reservation, especially if you are coming during the weekend. The staff will ask you whether you want to be indoors or outdoors. In my case, I chose the indoor one, which is the Tiga Dari.
After we arrived at Hutan Kota, my brother was tempted by Pidari’s menus. Pidari is the outdoor section. So we asked the staff what's the difference between the two. So Tiga Dari serves Indonesian food, including the sharing meal, like different types of fish, chicken and beef dishes. In comparison, Pidari serves a mix of cuisines, Indonesian, Western, and Japanese. If you sit in Pidari, you can order food from Tiga Dari. But it doesn't apply the other way around.
So we decided to choose Pidari, and the staff helped us to inform Tiga Dari that we cancelled our sit there.
Shown are the food and drink that we ordered. The successful one among them all is the Shimeji Pom Pom. Shimeji mushrooms are covered in batter and cooked in salted egg sauce. Super yummy. We even ordered another portion of it!
One food that I don't think matches its name is the Sei Sapi. I feel like it’s more like Blackpepper Beef instead of Sei Sapi (beef). Because Sei is supposed to be smoked, I believe. It’s good, and the meat is tender, but it’s just not the sei sapi that I know.
Overall it was a nice experience. And plus point, they have a prayer room as well outside of the restaurant building. The prayer room is quite spacious and equipped with AC too. Appreciate it that they have a proper...
