The first time I passed this restaurant, their big banner, which showed some of the menu items, especially Mie Aceh with Lobster and Martabak Bebek, caught my attention the most! And finally, the time came for us to try this restaurant.
From the name "Kanabu", it may sound a bit Japanese 😅 But actually, this is an Acehnese restaurant that provides various menus, such as lamb, beef, chicken, duck, shrimp, rice, noodles, martabak, and vegetables.
The restaurant is spacious and comfortable for dining. It is just like a Padangnese restaurant, where the ready-to-eat foods are served on our table, and then we can choose and enjoy them as we like.
Let's see what we tried!
Mie Aceh Daging Sapi (IDR 38,000) Thick and straight noodles in a thick gravy made with herbs, served with beef, tomato, fried onions, pickles, and crackers. I might say that their mie Aceh is suitable for the first timer and those who doesn't like strong herbs taste because their gravy isn't that strong as the usual mie Aceh.
Martabak Daging + Kari Bebek (IDR 45,000) Beef, onions, and spring onions are fried together with the egg, so it becomes a thick omelet. It is served with the duck curry and the duck, too. The taste is good. I like the thick curry, too!...
Read moreAuthentic Acehnese food in the heart of Bendungan Hilir. While Benhil area is always popular for legendary Padang restaurants, this Acehnese resto is a formidable contender for potential diners. The place is quite full even when I arrived really late for dinner, around 9 PM. I ordered: Mie Goreng Daging Rusa (Aceh fried noodles with deer meat) 🌟 Ikan Kayu Keumamah 🌟 Minced mackerel sauteed in chili, curry leaves and spices Ayam Tangkap Twice cooked, free ranged chicken boiled in curry and pandan leaves, and then fried along with the leaves
All the dishes were really tasty; especially the fried noodles & mackerel, and had such deep bold flavours. It's addictive really. I would recommend this place for authentic Acehnese food in the Central Jakarta area. Service and atmosphere can improve though. Atmosphere is more for a quick casual dine in rather than a comfortable...
