Lac Mei Che feels like stepping into a hidden gem in the heart of Jakarta. The aroma of sizzling woks and fragrant spices immediately sets the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The ambiance is simple yet inviting, with a no-frills approach that lets the food take center stage.
Nasi Goreng Yang Zhou. This fried rice is a masterpiece, each grain is perfectly separated, coated in just the right amount of savory seasoning, and studded with tender pieces of meat and fresh vegetables. The wok hei (breath of the wok) is evident, giving it that smoky depth that elevates it beyond your average fried rice. A dish so comforting yet executed with such precision.
Kacang Panjang Garam, The long beans are crisp-tender, stir-fried with a generous amount of garlic and salted fish that adds a punch of umami. The balance of saltiness and freshness is spot-on, making it an excellent companion to the richer dishes.
Ma Yi Shang Shu is a revelation. These ants climbing a tree noodles are packed with flavor—spicy, slightly sweet, and loaded with minced pork that clings to the thin noodles. The texture is flawless, with the noodles maintaining a delightful chewiness while soaking up all the bold flavors of the sauce.
Sui Kiaw Babi. These pork dumplings are a testament to the art of dim sum. The wrappers are thin yet sturdy, encasing a juicy, well-seasoned filling. Each bite releases a burst of savory broth, proving that these dumplings are made with care and expertise.
Babi Hong, This braised pork belly is melt in your mouth tender, with layers of fat and meat that dissolve effortlessly. The sauce is rich and slightly sweet, glazing the pork beautifully without overpowering its natural flavors. It’s a dish that demands to be savored slowly.

When we arrived noticed that the plates were wrapped in plastic so had break the plastic to get the plates. The one thing that you had to be careful of was not to eat any of the chillies that came with the meal. We had the Fried Chicken ,Braised Tofu, Braised Pork , Frogs Legs and Pancake. All these meals had red or green chillies with them except the pancake. Even though our lips were tingling still enjoyed the meal as it was delicious. For dessert we had the Caramelized Sweet Potato which was different and interesting. If had a chance would return again to try...
Read moreStill my favourite Sichuan style food in all of Jakarta. All dishes were never a miss, burst of bold flavour firing on all front, without restraint on traditional Chinese seasoning. If the real deal is oily, then oily it is. it was always a perfect night out for authentic Chinese food. The goat skin soup is heartwarming, but my personal favourite is the Sichuan Boiled Pork for the bold mala taste, drenched in chili oil. And the price is quite friendly for the portion they served, unlike the next door place who charges exorbitant prices for a small portion.
On the second visit we tried Gou Bao Rou, Grilled Oyster, and some chinese skewers, which were also...
