Charcoal Bun Beef Burger for 160 K IDR++
The perfect burger doesn't exist, but this one surprised me with just how close it got. The soft buns perfectly matched the teeny bit of texture and ephemeral nuttiness from the toasted sesame seeds. The mixed melted cheese gave a nice sharpness (I'm pretty sure it had some blue cheese in it) to contrast the rest of the burger without overpowering any of the other elements. This is one of the finest examples of a balancing act as the cheese melted perfectly while still giving a bit of stringiness and they all worked in concert to make each bite give a slight guilty feeling of how the cheese was ready to burst all over our face - evoking the mental image of how happy one would be if one were to encounter such a hamburger back when we were a toddler.
For the star of the show, the perfectly cooked medium rare patty was so soft it gave no resistance at all. What flabbergasted me was the fact that it still delivered such a great textural mouthfeel. The patty was so juicy i reckon they probably lightly dipped it like a French dip burger.
The slice of tomato was so fresh and juicy it just added to the whole layered texture experience which was just heavenly as its freshness cuts through how rich everything else was. The lettuce was also a prime example of fresh last minute prep that it arrived before it wilted and it was a great vessel to elevate the garlic aioli underneath.
Sadly, the burger is a bit small for the price tag and the fries - which were quite a prime example of a properly prepared side dish due to its crispy exterior and soft, flaky interior - really would have been much better if it had a more rustic cut as well as flakier exterior for texture and table presence.
Nevertheless, it's probably the most heavenly mouthfeel one can get from a burger in Jakarta. Now i know other burgers i would rather go to for better value, a more filling meal, or a more satisfying "i just chomped some burgers down like some greasy roadhog" feel, but this is seriously still so worth it.

Read moreThe worst bakery branch by Paul I have ever been!
Usually, I really appreciate visits at PAUL bakery in other countries but in Indonesia as well. You get a good and standardized quality of coffee, baked goods and food. But I made the worst experience at Paul Bakery Pacific place.
The ambience is nice, it is right in front of the Pacific place mall with the option to sit inside or outside. The decoration is nice, however, the same as in every restaurant by Paul (french style).
The service was absolutely horrible. The staff seemed to be annoyed by every guest incoming, not willing to be active and to serve the guests. We waited for quite a long time until we asked to order, receiving eye roll, annoyed look, unfriendly greeting and snort as reaction. We were a group of three people with a simple order (3 coffee drinks and 2 desserts) and the waitress did not get what we would like to order, neither in English nor in Bahasa Indonesia. After talking to her colleague, we needed to reorder because 3 of 5 flavours of Eclair were sold out. We picked one of the availables and... she served the opposite and was not willing to change it.
The food on that day had also not the quality I am used to at Paul´s. We ordered one millefeuille besides the eclair and it tasted like it had already lied in display for days. It had no taste anymore and was more dried than juicy. Sorry, Paul can...

The menu unfolds with a tempting array of choices, and my palate embarked on a journey with a rich chocolate drink, accompanied by the comforting notes of cream. Chocolate cake and ice cream also graced the table, contributing to a diverse selection.
The presentation, though not extravagant, maintains an elegant simplicity that aligns with the establishment's character. It's clear that the emphasis is on delivering flavors that resonate. And resonate they do – the taste is a harmonious blend, avoiding excessive sweetness while ensuring a thoroughly enjoyable experience for the discerning palate.
As the bill arrives, it reflects a slightly higher price point, but one that seems justified given the quality of the culinary offerings. The attentive and amiable staff further enhance the overall impression, providing swift and friendly service.
While lacking in distinctive features, this dessert haven earns its stripes for offering a comfortable retreat coupled with delectable treats. It comes highly recommended for those seeking not just desserts but a holistic experience that combines ambiance, flavor, and attentive service in a...
