Sarang Oci, Restoran Manado - Tugu Tani — Restaurant in Jakarta

Found this restaurant by accident when I was staying in a hotel nearby. Nice restaurant with pretty good menu options and the place is lovely and clean. We ordered a couple of simple, classic Manado dishes (ayam bakar/grilled chicken, bakwan jagung/corn fritters, tenggiri baker rica/grilled fish rica sauce and tumis bunga pepaya/stir-fry papaya flower). Overall the quality was ok, the rica-rica sambal and dabu-dabu were great; tangy, spicy and refreshing. The corn fritters was a bit of a let down, could be a lot crispier, it was on the soggy side and served cold.

We got everything fairly quickly, but we didn’t have the grilled fish. Halfway through our meal (we were starving) I asked for the fish and they said it’s still about 15-20 minutes away. I asked why since other guests who came after us already had their fish, the waiter started to make excuses and blamed the kitchen staff, then I proceeded to cancel the order.

It would be easier to just admit that they missed our order and apologise. Not going back, great food was spoiled by below-average service. Tolong di ajarin waiternya untuk lebih tanggung jawab dan belajar...

They specialize in Manado's cuisine. They will give you two types of sambal. The spicy ones, and the not spicy ones. I would prefer to combine them both. The taste itself is really good. It has quite a close taste to the original cuisine. You need to try their "Bakwan Jagung". This place has two floors, the second one being a meeting room that can have up to 60 people (I guess). Other than that, they also offer Manado's cake like Panada. I don't have the chance to try it though. Overall, a really nice restaurant for meeting or just to enjoy...
