Stayed here for a short staycation on weekend. To be honest I wasn't expecting a lot for my stay but turned out I was mistaken.
Here is the summary of my stay in Aryaduta Jakarta.
What went well: Aryaduta is a 5 star hotel (if I'm not mistaken) right in the heart of Jakarta, very close distance to business and government district, also to Gambir train station. I was pleased to find out that it has its own parking building attached to the hotel, beside some outdoor parking area. The property itself is a little bit old but I must admit overall it is well maintained. Checking in and out went very smooth and quick. I booked a junior suite room and got complimentary club lounge access and also late check out (although only till 1 pm but still really appreciate it, thank you Aryaduta!!). What I really love during my stay was the room. Yes it's feel a little bit old but I have to admit its very comfortable, homy, and spacious. Also the junior suite has great view to Tugu Tani and Jakarta skyscrapper in the background. Junior room has living and dining area but still feel very spacious. I personally love the dining area with half round window around it. Its offer the best panoramic view of surrounding area. Love the separated bathtub and shower. Proper bathroom for 5 star hotel. Club Lounge located on top floor (17th) and when I came there for afternoon tea it was very quite as no other guest there. The lounge attendant also very attentive and kind to us. Although the food and snack offered has limited variety but it wasn't a big deal. Its also offer evening cocktail but no children under 11 yo are allowed during evening cocktail and also you must wear proper attire as no slipper and short allowed during evening cocktail. As a club room guest, you can choose to have breakfast either in Club Lounge or in JP Bistro at lobby level. If you want to have a calm and more private breakfast I suggest the lounge, but I assume the food variety is better in JP Bistro as it has bigger space so I choose to had it in JP Bistro. Breakfast in JP Bistro has good variety and taste good. Nothing to complaint from here. You can also order latte or cappucino from the barista. There is swimming pool and pool side cafe in 3rd floor. Kids pool also available there. I must say the staff is the one living up this hotel. Love the attentiveness of the club lounge attendant.
What could be improve: The parking space is a little bit narrow and dark. May get a little bit difficult if you bring a large size car i.e Fortuner or Alphard. There is small stair steps in the entrance to the lobby from the parking building. Extra work if you bring baby stroller and luggage as I did. As I mentioned the hotel is a little bit outdated in style. Would love to see some refreshment any time soon. There was no door safety lock in the room. Would be nice of there is one to prevent unwanted person entering the room. Actually there are quite a few power outlet in the room, but mostly are 3 pin power outlet and somehow it was very difficult to plug in 2 pin power socket that used in Indonesia. Only 1 socket available with standard 2 pin socket used here. I can't find the AC thermostat in the room. It is a centralized AC system and there was only 1 switch beside the bed that i think only setting the blower speed and to turn on and off the AC. I don't actually mind because its set to cold temp but my wife said its a little bit too cold for her. Luckily the duvet was very comfortable. My room was very large but the TV is kind of small for those size of the room and the TV screen in my room also a little bit dark although I tried to set the brightness to maximum. Time to upgrade maybe. Would love to see more variety to the snack offered in Club Lounge.
In general I would say my stay here is satisfactory. Its over my expectation. I would recommend this hotel for people looking for budget friendly 5 star hotel right in the heart of Jakarta. Its indeed a hidden gem in Jakarta. Thumbs up to all the staffs that run and keep...
Read moreWe had booked two deluxe rooms . It’s an old hotel and the decor is antique with the dim lights in the rooms and the walk ways . The hotel was more than 50 years old and the decor though would have been renovated for certain, had not really changed much since then . Could you imagine , the TOP class status , this hotel had once enjoyed 50 years ago ! Pompous and so Grand and luxurious during It’s hey days in Jakarta ! It was THE HOTEL ! Soon it would be an heritage hotel .
It would be good if they could look into having brighter lights to brighten up the corridors and renovate the rooms soothingly to improve the ambience and provide good feeling for the guests . The bathrooms especially, need brighter lighting soon for comfortable feeling and hand rails for safety of guests . Housekeeping and cleanliness in the rooms and in the whole hotel is highly commendable . The first entrance to the hotel , the Security check point appears dull and does not seem to project the hotel’s worthy image accordingly .
The buffet breakfast during our stay , fell short of our expectations . That was quite well covered up by the friendly, hospitable and ‘ever ready to assist ‘ staff working there . However , the a’la carte menu had good choice of food and they were very tasty and delicious for our liking, making us wonder about the cooking mood of the chefs working there 🤔.
The hotel has many other dining options which include Japanese, Italian , German and off course don’t forget to try out some of those local Indonesian signature dishes suggested by the waitress . We enjoyed the Mee Rebus and the Seafood Fried Mee. 24/7 room service is a bonus for some busy guests who don’t have the time to hang out outside but still can order good delicious food anytime and enjoy eating it in the cosy comfort of their rooms .
The service from the hotel staff was generally excellent and very hospitable including from the staff standing at the main entrance of the hotel to usher in the guests with so much of warmth and Indonesian hospitality .
They have a Lobby Bar which has a variety of breads , cakes and cookies. It’s quite cosy to sit there with friends, to have a chat over coffee and snacks while waiting for friends or before you retire to bed . We enjoyed eating the blueberry cake and the tuna roll with coffee .
Will we come again ! YES off course ! And hopefully, the Management will look into some of our suggestions to make the hotel guests feel more comfortable and at ease to spend happier days and nights for our greater...
Read morePros: Food was decent with many choices Reception girls were great! Room service was quick. Restaurant staff were great! We could pray Jummah salat inside the hotel (basement floor).
Cons: The rooms are OLD and the carpet is smelly The gym is not attended to and is dirty! (SEE THE PHOTOS) ... many benches are old, that you can see the the leather covering is ripped off and you can see the wood inside the bench! ... The gym floor is covered with carpet. How can you work with free weights and then drop the weights, because they are heavy, on carpet? This means you will break the floor under the carpet.
... people there use the free weights and then never return them back to the rack. They just drop them everywhere in the gym. This is disgusting.
The smoking area in the lobby is pretty big, and is next to the restaurant and next to the non-smoking area. When we sat in the restaurant or in the non-smoking area, we can easily smell the disgusting smoke coming from all the smokers. The hotel should do something about making a complete separation between smoking and non-smoking areas.
They serve alcohol!!! How can you do that in a Muslim country? Did you know that Prophet Mohammed (salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) told us in an authentic hadith that there are 8 types of people who are cursed for dealing with alcohol, including that who drink it, serve it, carry it, buy it, sell it, being bought for, squeeze it, being...
