Came here from South (!) Jakarta on a Sunday morning as I had two hours to waste, waiting for my daughter who was at a birthday party at a trampoline park nearby. The staff is pleasant, they are dog friendly and I was allowed to sit with my pooch in their (sweltering) smoking area outside, coffee is good and prepared with care by skilled and knowledgeable Baristas. I haven't tried the food and it's unlikely that I'll be back any time soon, seen as this place is at the other end of Jakarta for me, but I'd like to congratulate the owners for a job well done. Six Ounces is a welcome third wave coffee shop that is such a welcome change to the horrible world wide invasion of mediocre chain coffee shops such as Starbucks, only too prevalent in Indonesia. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Edit in January 2017 Came here a second time, again from South Jakarta after we were refused entrance in every ANCOL restaurant because of our tiny dog. Knowing that Six Ounces was dog friendly. Turns out that
We went for brunch; the reception was good but afterwards there were some issues. First of all it is ice ice cold inside, if you wear short sleeves you will be frozen. Then the order and the food. I ordered the salmon version of the eggs benedict. And as so often, habis! kosong! it was not available. That’s very annoying if you really feel like eating something. Okay, then the ham version. That wasn’t bad. But, the chicken quesadilla really tasted like a pizza with bolognese sauce. Not Mexican but Italian. And the fish and chips? The fried fish tasted -according to my Indonesian table companions who should know- like pisang goreng?! How is that possible, is the frying oil thát old? The coffee was very good. One of the bigger issues was to get the attention of the staff. They all cluster at the entrance where the bar and the coffee machine is. You can see they have some good fun but none of them looks in the direction of the customers and nobody thinks about walking around in the area where people are eating to see if people need anything. Just like in Europe, you have to wave and yell to get a waiter to your table. But here the amount of staff is three times that in Europe. That’s bad and easy to solve by training and some more discipline. The interior is not bad but also not that impressive, what strikes me in a place like this, is that nobody of the patrons is actually talking or having a conversation; really everybody is looking at his/her cell phone. It creates a weird atmosphere. The dishes are rather pricey, we spent over 450K for just a breakfast dish and a simple drink for three people each. So all in all not a very...
Read moreBeen wanting to try Six Ounces Coffee since a long time ago. I always decided against visiting because their parking area always unavailable. And today it's my lucky day, since there's available parking spot. In this visit, I ordered a few menus. For dishes, I ordered Pork Creamy Carbonara Spaghetti (beef/pork ham, cream, egg yolk, parmesan) and Crispy Pork Belly (served with rice, scrambled egg, sweet & sour sauce). I definitely in love with their Pork Creamy Carbonara Spaghetti, however couldn't said the same towards their Crispy Pork Belly which isn't my palate at all, the crispy pork belly is too much flour rather than the pork belly itself and the outside part is kinda burn so it's pretty bitter. For beverages, I ordered Iced Chocolate by Korte (iced served with vanilla ice cream) and Ice Yakult Lychee. Overall, I pretty satisfied with this visit. For this visit to Six Ounces Coffee Kelapa Gading, i'm gonna rate them 3 out of 5. For more info about foods, kindly visit...
