Nusa Dua Beach Grill — Restaurant in Kuta Selatan

We were pretty excited about this place and left a bit disappointed. I would like to mention the staff was extremely friendly and sweet, very welcoming and one of the reasons we wanted to eat here!

For whatever reason our food took an extremely long time (which they apologized for without a reason as to why). At least 3 people who came 20-30minutes after we ordered were served before us; felt ridiculous watch everyone else get their food before us again and again.

Once the food came, it was delivered lukewarm-cold for the fish and chips / the mahi mahi burger was warm but again cold fries. The portions of the fries were small on both and fish small for the fish and chips (kids meal portion). I believe the oil was a bit off which could be tasted on the chips and fish (don’t know how to describe it because it wasn’t rancid, but almost a floral flavor). We felt for the price this was extremely disappointing compared to other restaurants in Bali.

When ordering, my girlfriend said she had an egg allergy and thoroughly checked that the meal she was ordering had no egg in the batter or anywhere and they confirmed it was safe for her. When it arrived, about a minute later the waiter came back and said one of the four pieces of fish actually had mayonnaise sauce on it which contained egg. I asked for it to be replaced with the same fish without the sauce but they instead just brought an empty plate for it to be put on. This was extremely disappointing to say the least, and no apology or discount let alone the food ordered was offered. Given that we were one of two tables actually present, with four wait staff standing around that we had to repeatedly gain the attention of, I would not recommend this to anyone. My chicken was dry and my girlfriend's seafood was nearly room temperature. This is not grill quality. 1 star is for the very pleasant view and lovely driver that returned us to our resort. Food was great, however the restaurant is pretty inaccessible. You have to pay to enter and get dropped off, about a couple AUD per person, you receive a ticket each but no explanation as to why when we got to the restaurant. The road then to the restaurant is very local and hard to find, almost inaccessible for cars. Paths need reworking, area seems to be under development. The restaurant atmosphere was quiet but the restaurant was about half full. The restaurant overlooks the ocean but is not on the beach. Portion sizes were decent but no kids menu size dishes except appetisers like fish and chips. We went as a family for a birthday whilst on holiday and the staff was lovely! Food was great! 4 stars just because of having to pay and not knowing about it. Prices are about average, leaning to the high side, tax is high around 18%.
