We had the pleasure of staying at this resort for one week. The one thing that stands out is the service, everyone had a positive attitude and we were surrounded by warmness throughout the majority our stay. Check in was quick and pleasant with no details left out. As I was there for a work event for a few days, I did not think to upgrade the room and just extended our stay with the reservation made for us. The room was clean, modern and beautiful. We did find that there was a lack of light in the room which made things sometimes difficult to see in the evenings, especially around the bed. Our biggest concern though, was not so much the room but the fact that a local and very persistent rooster would start crowing from sometimes as early as 2:30 am (and never later than 4:20am) and continue well into late morning. The first night we were woken by this, we called the Front Desk and they told us there is nothing they could do. They did not offer us another room. We suggested ear plugs and they told us they do not have any as they had not received complaints on this. A quick Google searched proved that many people had complained so I was very disappointed with this response. We even asked to speak to a Manager who was less helpful as his only suggestion was for us to seek our own earplugs at a local pharmacy which would not open for several hours. To their credit, after some persuasion, when we spoke to the Concierge the next day he was willing to get ear plugs for us at our expense. This issue continued throughout the trip with the ear plugs only giving some relief from our persistent feathered friend. I recommend the resort get some kind of white noise machine for these rooms or offer ear plugs at the least.Bottled water was provided in our room throughout the stay which was appreciated.
We did spend some time at the beautiful pools during our stay. They are all beautiful with the pool near the beach being the most popular one. The pool beds were reserved on a first come first served basis so being early birds worked to our advantage (guess we owe the rooster for that).. We found the beach a little rocky and uncomfortable compared to other beaches we've been to so we stuck to the pool.
The resort provides a European plan with breakfast included. We ended up eating many meals at the resort with breakfast being our favorite. The breakfast buffet was excellent with many food options for everyone. As for lunch and dinner, we found the food was just average. We liked the Japanese restaurant the best, followed by Table 8 and The Cafe with Soleil being our least favorite dinner. Compared to the some of the restaurants we ate off the resort, we found the resort was much more expensive for the similar or worse food quality. We did not have a lunch or dinner on the resort that merited the premium price. To us, the food was not a strength for this resort. One issue we had was the "Mulia water" which was freely offered in the rooms was only available at a charge in the restaurants. It would be nice for the restaurant to offer still water for the table and this is the first upscale resort we've been to where this was not offered.
The resort had a well equipped gym. It is modern and clean with lots of weight machines and sufficient cardio machines.
The glitches mentioned above prevent us from giving this resort 5 stars but I would still recommend this resort for anyone...
Read moreDo not stay at the Mulia in Bali. Overpriced for the what you get in terms of location, service and quality. To qualify I am a frequent traveler to Bali all of my life making two trips a year here and trying new hotels often to try and get some variety. I am a CEO that travels across Australia and Asia and my wife is a Surgeon who frequently travels with me. The Mulia is now my least favorite in a list that spans most of the nearly all five star hotels in Bali. Reasons Why: If you don't get to breakfast by 8:30 expect a 10meter line of people. This is unacceptable even in peak for a five star hotel Similarly make sure you wake up early to secure a position by the pool. Once the staff put a towel down for a guest they will keep that spot all day for them, leaving manny empty deck chairs that can't be used. Despite having large numbers of staff they have difficulty coordinating amongst themselves - examples to follow. Waiting for 15min for lunch when a table is available. We arrive and are told there is a wait. After 5min of looking at an empty table I asked why can we not sit there and waitress says she'd check (5min later) she returns and says sorry there is another guest for that table. After another 5min I ask another waitress who sees us standing and asked if she can help I ask if we can sit in at this table she says ok. Then we witness an argument between her and other staff. Very unprofessional. At lunch we received of mains 30min apart. This is at Soleil. Pool service - 45min for a club sandwich to arrive We prepaid for a NYE Dinner INR6,400,000 (USD$470) for two people not including alcohol. Assuming this would be a degustation or a nice al-la-carte given the price. The dinner turned out to be a Buffett of the worst type. We lasted 30min. After complaining through two managers I was handed a complaint card! After eating in the best restaurants all over the world this was the biggest rip-off I've ever experienced by far. We left to go to the sky bar to get a view of the NYE fireworks but, get this Mulia didn't put any NYE fireworks on. We could only listen to the fireworks going off at the St. Regis next door. I expressed my grievances a final time on check-out and asked to speak to the Mulia Food & Beverage Manager Sapta Dharma who thanked me for my lengthy feedback and offered me a lunch as the only compensation he could offer.
We left being very offended and will never stay there again and dissuade anyone who is...
Read moreWe stayed there for our honeymoon worst experience ever!! Would never come back again. While staying there I slipped and hit my head real hard on their hotel pool area. The hotel manager came after learning I was hurt. She ask me if I needed a doctor I told her yes i would like to go to the hospital to see a doctor and get a head scan as I was bleeding. I was never told that the doctor was coming to the hotel so it took around two hours to see the doctor. We were not told that there will be a cancelation fee if we choose to go to the hospital ourselves. The manager ask me to go back to my room and she will send someone to bring me an ice pack. The staff took over one hour to BRING ICE PACK to me with NO ICE in it!!! I kept asking the staff on the phone when is my ice pack coming they insisted that it is coming. I told them I’m hurting and bleeding and I even offered to go there to pick up the ice pack myself but they refused!!!!! We ask the staff bringing the ice pack with no ice in it where is the ice he replied “sorry you have call room service again if you want ice. I’m not responsible for that”
The first day we arrived at their hotel we told them it was our honeymoon. They tried to give us a twin size bed by telling us that they ran out of king size even-though we had booked a king size bed. The staff kept trying to give us the twin size bed but we refused and the manager was called. It turned out they did have a king size bed but they us wait for 2 hours for them to clean before giving to us. The check in time was 3pm but we didn’t get our room until 5 pm. We had to sit around waiting for our room. What a waste of time.
The other issue we found was the sheets were not very clean. They gave us sheets with pin marks on it and we had to call for new once.
We did talk to the manager about the bad services received at their hotel but she made a lot of excuses. We would never stay at their hotel again. It is not safe and the staff don’t really care about their customer. We have stayed at many 5 star hotels but never seen this kind of service. There are many five star hotels near by don’t waste your time on this one. We love bali and will be going there often but not...
