Title: An Unforgettable Night at Tabu & AMA by Ours – But Ours Uluwatu Was a Disgrace
We had an absolutely fantastic evening at Tabu by Ours, and it’s all thanks to a warm recommendation from the manager at AMA by Ours, where we had earlier enjoyed a beautiful lunch. The consistency of service, attention to detail, and the overall vibe across these two venues made our night in Uluwatu truly special — despite the incredibly disappointing start to the day at Ours Uluwatu, which I’ll address below for full transparency.
⸻
🌟 AMA by Ours – Exceptional From Start to Finish
We almost didn’t visit AMA due to a terrible encounter earlier in the day (more on that below), but I convinced my wife to give it a chance. I’m very glad we did.
From the moment we walked in, the staff at AMA by Ours were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was delicious, plated with care, and full of flavour. The drinks were refreshing and well-balanced. The manager personally took time to check on us and made us feel valued — this kind of service makes all the difference. The recommendation to visit their sister venue Tabu by Ours later that evening felt sincere and enthusiastic, so we decided to go.

🍸 Tabu by Ours – A Hidden Gem for Dinner & Drinks
Tabu by Ours absolutely delivered.
The atmosphere was vibrant yet laid-back, a perfect blend for a relaxing evening or a full-on night out. From the front-of-house staff to the bar and kitchen team, everyone was incredibly professional and warm. The cocktails were some of the best we’ve had in Bali — crafted with skill and creativity, not just thrown together. The banana dessert was a standout — rich, balanced, and memorable.
Though we couldn’t stay until closing due to travel plans, we would’ve happily partied the night away there. The music was great, the energy upbeat, and the service never once faltered. We felt welcomed, respected, and truly looked after — exactly what you’d expect (and hope for) when dining or drinking abroad.

⚠️ Ours Uluwatu – Deeply Disappointing, Bordering on Racist
Unfortunately, our day started on a very sour note at Ours Uluwatu. We walked in with high expectations, having seen good reviews — but what we experienced was the polar opposite of hospitality.
The service by Geoffrey and his female colleague was shockingly rude, dismissive, and borderline racist. We were made to feel completely unwelcome, ignored, and disrespected. The tone, attitude, and blatant disregard they showed us — while treating other guests very differently — left us stunned. The only differentiating factor we could observe was the colour of our skin.
It was so upsetting that my wife wanted nothing more to do with the Ours brand at all — and understandably so. We actually walked out of Ours Uluwatu in complete disappointment and disgust. To think that two individuals can reflect so poorly on an entire brand is frustrating, but the reality is: Geoffrey and his colleague should not be in customer-facing roles in hospitality. Their conduct was completely unacceptable and damaging to the Ours name.
⸻
✅ Final Thoughts – Go to AMA and Tabu, Avoid Ours Uluwatu
If you’re visiting Uluwatu and looking for a great experience with excellent food, drinks, and service, don’t hesitate to visit AMA by Ours and Tabu by Ours — both are highly recommended and offer everything you’d want for a classy, enjoyable night out.
But avoid Ours Uluwatu at all costs. Until serious action is taken and proper standards are enforced, it is not a place worth your time or money. I hope senior management takes this feedback seriously, because two amazing venues under the same brand are being dragged down by an unprofessional and, frankly, offensive team at one location.

Read moreThought I would give this place a try for food despite seeing so many reviews about the prices being a lot for small portions, mediocre tastes and poor service. I will have to they are spot on. After being seated 15 minutes I waived a server down to ask if we could order some drinks as no one had come by. She said she'd have to ask her friend. Still no one came. After nearly 25 minutes and no one had come to our table we moved to the bar where we finally got service. They werent even very busy yet and tons of staff everywhere. I had been there once before but just for drinks and I was so impressed by the margaritas were so good. Well this night they were on special and I will say the margarita wasn't great at all. So either they changed the recipie or they were making them not as good because they were on special. After 2 of those we were going to try and order a different full priced cocktail to see if that was better but after 20 minutes and no sign of the waiter we decided to just go elsewhere. I tried the burger, shrimp taco and egg rolls. Everything was just ok, nothing I would ever order again at that price point. For 2 tacos, 1 burger, mini size egg rolls and 4 half price cocktails it was nearly 800k and everything was meh. The ambiance is nice but I was not impressed by anything else. I'm happy to spend a bit of money on quality, but that was not.
Update after the manager of ours apologized to try and rectify the situation which is greatly appreciated. It's always great when leadership truly cares to be better and is sincere with negative experiences. This place has amazing potential if they can just up the service and...
Read moreMy experience was average at best. I will say the cocktails were very high quality and the music was good, it does start to get loud and dark inside past 10pm so would recommend eating before then.
The sushi wasn't good. We ordered prawn tempura and it came out within one minute with the rest of our food arriving several minutes later. Found that a bit odd tbh as it was dry and lacking flavour. Also ordered smoked avocado nigiri and it comes out inside a dome filled with smoke. I found it to be a bit gimicky as well.
The prawn tacos were delicious to be fair and if you like truffle there's plenty on the menu.
The people who meet you at the door were very friendly. The waiter who initally took our order was lovely.
Then, when trying to order another drink; nothing, it was like our table no longer existed. Tables were cleared and there was no offer of a desert menu or if we'd like another drink?
I finally caught someone's attention, who dropped over the menus and then disappeared. It was another 10/15 minutes before we managed to order a drink and desert off a different waiter.
Funnily enough when I asked for the bill off one of the waitresses another waiter arrived at the table with it and a card machine ready before I'd even finished asking, the quickest service all night.
Overall I found it expensive for the experience & food we had. It's not a restaurant I'd...
