Yasa Segara Bengiat Restoran — Restaurant in Kuta Selatan

I am certain that due to this restaurant's location, and excellent surroundings, this place will be getting great reviews. My wife and daughter and I were going around in the neighborhood looking for an ideal place for us to celebrate Christmas Eve and hand over to our daughter her new Apple iPad Christmas gift. We thought maybe the staff could be included, and could aid us in surprising her with suddenly, unexpectedly handing over her new iPad.

Immediately upon arrival, it's customary to order drinks, then further look at the menu for what to eat. Seeing this was not the evening we planned on having a feast, we were only searching out a nice place, the staff may have been disappointed in us only ordering food for our daughter and drinks for us all three. Because I have never in my life, and I have been around in many nice places, for example the JW Marriot Grosvenor House in London were coincidentally the rock star Rod Stewart was sitting in the bar to mention one, but I've never encountered a bartender and 2 other staff/waiters that is ignorant of what the drink "Vodka" is.

I tried in the local language to order a "double vodka on the rocks", I tried in English, even my local Norwegian tongue to order my vodka, but to no avail. There is NO other word, in any language, for Vodka. Of course they knew what I meant. They were in fact simply playing around, trying to be funny, or worse harassing its clientele. Amongst themselves making fun of the "tourist" that arrived an hour before closing. (Not a tourist btw, my wife is Indonesian, and we are here for 1 year this visit..!)

Obviously because we arrived 1 hour before closing hours and were the only ones there, the staff/waiters looked upon us with disgust and irritation. Of course every bartender and waiter, staff member of a restaurant of this caliber KNOWS what "Vodka" is. I refuse to believe they've never heard of Vodka.

This created an immediate uncomfortable atmosphere and even though the restaurant itself is clean, neat and maintained close to perfection, everything became awkward and we felt unwelcomed.

I remind the reader of our intentions! We were scoping out restaurants to enjoy Christmas Eve, in order to hand over the gift to our daughter. In one of the videos included (attached) you can hear me talking about vodka, only to "Give Up" and ask for Gin.

For whatever reason they're claiming to justify their behavior, this was so ridiculous, and these employees need to learn some etiquette and manners. In my humble opinion the owner should interrogate these employees and ask what and why they decided to act in such a manner!!

I will NEVER again set foot in this restaurant, simply because of what occurred that evening. It was petty, small-minded, and the (brondong) youthful employee was satisfying their own desires. Whatever that might have been?! Be weary of this restaurant!!! Even though its location is near to perfection, its employees etiquette/manners were NOT deserving of working in such a lovely place.

I know that the Restaurant is able to respond to reviews, and I would like an explanation from its seniors, daily Manager, or someone higher up. Maybe the owner himself or herself could respond and explain how come the staff doesn't know the drink named "VODKA"?? Apart from that, the location is excellent, the place is clean and nice, and may give other customers better service and behavior.

To me and my family, it was only a minor irritation, but still enough for me to strongly advise people to stay away from this particular restaurant.

In closing, in the hopes of getting a response from its owner or manager, I will include that my reviews have millions of views, and it might be smart to repair or in some way try to resolve our dissatisfaction.

Visited this place in the afternoon 14.09.2023 for a lunch. The atmosphere is really pleasant: clean, neat, flowers , nice collection of music, but... We come to the restaraunt for the food and the service. It took me 7-10min just to get a menu. Then ordered pizza Romana and icecream. It appeared that the waiter did not speak enough English to understand my order and after awhile the other was invited. I have asked how much time the the pizza will take to be cooked (15min), and asked then to bring the icecream first as it is ready to be served. In 15min of waiting I had to go to by the kitched to get my icecream...As the result they brought it together in 5 min after. These people have no idea what the pizza dough should be like. Will try to attach the photo so you would laugh at the bread crouton they brought me )) The crust hardly could be cut even by the metal knife :-( Well cannot complain on the quality of the vanilla icecream - it...

Service is terrible. While everyone get menu to their table, I have to walk to their bar asking for it.

No smile no friendly faces, but to foreigners they do. Even asked how are them and had some small talk.

I was not satisfied, but I was so thirsty. So, I ordered one more ice tea. I asked nicely to the guy who just happened to finish getting order from the table beside me. He looked at me from top to bottom, not smiling and not even said ok. I didnt know if he actually heard my order. Guy, was wearing batik shirt. If he was the manager of the place, he sucks at his job.

I wonder why they treat foreigners and the local differently. If I could sit here, it means I could pay for my food and drinks.

My friend came after surfing sesh, an Indonesian and have to go to the bar to ask for menu too :/

Nope, I'm not coming back. Not only because of the service, but the quality of food...
