Beach Bali Cafe — Restaurant in Kuta

Wish I’d read the reviews of this place before visiting.

This is a restaurant whereby you purchase fish by the kilo. We selected a package that included 500g fish, plus some squid skewers, prawns & rice, totalling to Rp 900,000.

Half way through the meal, an Australian man warned us the scales used for weighing the fish here were deceptive - he realised this after weighing his iPhone on their scales and it coming up as a much higher weight. During our conversation the restaurant manager started shouting at him and threatening to call the police on him.

We finished our very average and very small meal and on our way out (after already having paid), I put my own phone on the scales. I googled the weight of my phone - which was 200grams - yet the scales weighed it as 600 grams. When I queried this they told me I was reading the scales incorrectly. When I pushed the matter further, suddenly none of the staff could understand English. When I walked over to ask the manager to weigh a bottle of water and with my back turned, they switched to a different scale (I could tell straight away as they first scales was round and the new one was square). This new scale provided the correct weight. They then accused us of trying to get a discounted meal.

My son and I don’t eat seafood so the meal was just for my husband and young daughter. At Rp 900,000 it was an expensive meal for 2 people which was incredibly disappointing - even without the issue of the dishonest staff/manager.

There are so many nice places to eat out in Bali - don’t waste your time...

We went there as we booked a bundle activities from Klook. Very difficult to locate. Our grab driver initially drop us at onother Cafe. First we thought that the name is Jimbaran Beach Cafe, so we ended up in a wrong place. After that we found that we were in other place and then have to walk almost a kilometer to reach there. The lady was there is very rough type behavior and just asked us to be seated. No one to come to ask for anything. Then suddenly one lady came out with a 3 set menu seafood meals. We asked her is there any other options available other that just this seafood menu? Then she told that there is 1 more option available with chicken. I told her why shouldn't you asked for it earlier? Then she said ok, and after another 30 minutes later she brings the food for us. We want to have some drinks as well, but nobody bothered to ask us anything as if we are came to have food for free there. We feel very frustrated & lots of our time was waisted. Never suggest anyone to go there & specially to book this through klook. They have the worst associates everywhere for all of there activities & passes. We booked all possible activities in our 17 days trip for Singapore & Indonesia through them, which cost us more than 2000USD, but except 1 - 2 cases we were disappointed with there's arrangements. Will never book again from...

Apart from food servings being small, overcooked and lacking any flavours, the place is a total scam. When we saw the snapper that was meant to be 500 grams as advertised in the package we ordered when it arrive we knew that it couldnt be anymore than 250 grams. My partner went up to discuss this with the manager and they proceeded to show him the same size fish and weigh it on thier scales, surprisingly it came in at 500 grams. My partner knew that this could not be correct and said lets put my iphone 15 pro max (weight 221 grams) and the scales clearly showed a weight of 500 grams. I videod this whole activity and this clearly shows that they are ripping customers off all day everyday. This video proof is continuous and includes conversation, a close up of the weights and pans around to show the restaurant name. Warning do not go to this mob thieves. We refused to pay full price and threatened to call the police. We will also be reporting them to relevant authorities in bali for what it’s worth.
