GIOI Ocean Gourmet — Restaurant in Kuta

Ambience and service is top notch. The server is very attentive and greeting us with the biggest smile they could. The food is very quick to arrive, and the portion is fair to the price.

The food, however, fall short on something you would call 'Ocean Gourmet'. We order 3 main menu, 3 drinks, 1 appetizer, and 1 dessert (for two people)

Salted and Pepper Tofu: Delicious. Crispy outside, soft inside. Not too salty, yet very enjoyable. Grilled Giant River Prawn: So far this is the best out of everything we order. The prawn is fresh and super sweet. The rice is seasoned, but not too strong in the rate it overpowered the prawn. Definitely order this. Thai Bouilabaisse: The meat inside the mussels are smaller than I usually eat. The prawn doesn't tasted fresh. It lack the resistance and bouncyness that usually found in fresh seafood. It was NOT a pleasant experience, especially because that was the only prawn there. The squid is okay, not memorable. The broth was perfect tho. Grilled Octopus: Another major dissapointment. Again, the meat of the octopus lack of bouncyness and ressistance and left us with some kind of powdery aftertaste in the mouth (which usually happened only with seafood that's been in the freezer for too long).

I would be okay if this happened on other cheap seafood restaurant. But in Gioi? Especially THE Gioi who brand themself as ocean gourmet?

The standout star of our evening was Hadi, whose exceptional service elevated our entire experience. He checked in on us regularly, made sure every detail was arranged perfectly, and—despite it being just a minute before closing—he kindly went out of his way to request a promo dish for us. His friendly, positive nature was not only impressive but also incredibly refreshing. It's rare to come across someone so genuinely invested in making guests feel welcome.

We also had the pleasure of being looked after by Khafi Ari, whose expertise and kindness added another layer of delight to our visit. As first-time Shisha users, we were clueless, but Khafi patiently and enthusiastically walked us through every tiny detail—right down to the percentage breakdowns—ensuring we felt confident and comfortable. His calm, knowledgeable approach made it such an enjoyable part of the night.

Together, Hadi and Khafi Ari turned our evening into an experience we'll remember for a long time. Their care, warmth, and attention to detail make Gioi not just a place to dine—but a place to feel valued.
