Bali has an stupendous amount of great restaurants, but this is not one of them. We had the tagliatelle and pork neck. The tagliatelle sauce was ok'ish but the pasta was certainly not 'al dente'. The pork dish contained one skewer, some herb potatoes and some green leaves (that's literally it), so I asked my girl friend if I could get some of her dish because I was still hungry. Luckily she agreed. :-) I ordered a glass of red wine and the wine was just bad. When I asked the waitress when the botlle was opened, she came back and told me honestly (I think) that the bottle was 5 days old. Since the wine was not massively cooled (good) I can only imagine that the bottle had been standing somewhere for 5 days in Bali temperatures (bad). Apparently there are not many red wine drinkers any more. So they poured me another glas from a new bottle (great) that tasted much better (even better). And then the restaurant put the whole bottle of red wine on our bill (not so good) which we rejected to do. The price of the food was double that of some of the brilliant warungs we have eaten in Ubud, so no great experience...
Read morePretty disappointed on a average restaurant playing to be a fine dining with overprices dishes. Starting with 30k Idr for 250ml of water ( 2 glasses literally). Chicken salad that probably was 100-110gr weight with 5 pieces of chicken breast (40-50gr) and 2 cherry tomato cut in half. 1 sirloin (42 min waiting) and last a pumpkin side dish.. +8min waiting on top while the mains was getting cold, and arrived at the table uncooked. All this while the chef/owner, after preparing our dishes and waiting the pumping to be "ready" was outside on the front door smoking.
Only positive note are the front of house staff, always kind and smiling.
Let me tell you, Hospitality isn't a joke, and isn't for everyone. It's about mentality and right attitude ! Isn't just overcharging dishes because the place it's based in ubud and the tourists will pay for that.
Definitely...
Read moreMild Bistrot is located very close to the Bali Palace. All the neighboring restaurants were very crowded, but here it was empty, nevertheless, we took a chance and went in - and did not regret it. There are both European and local Indonesian cuisine. To start, we ordered drinks, and they were all very good - there are very few places in Bali where you can find smoothies or juices with passion fruit, but here I really enjoyed the Passion juice. As for the dishes, we liked everything we took from the Chef’s Special section. I would like to mention the Creamy Chicken Penne - a home-made tasty and tender dish. The toilet is a little strange: it’s as if you can see another person inside while you wait, although the towels near the washbasin are, on the contrary, a very cool solution. Also, the room has no air conditioning - it's quite hot here. Prices are...
