This was our first time for me & my family in Bali. Aside from the inevitable traffic, the 7-day vacation has been pleasant because the locals here have been so friendly, amicable and just genuinely nice people. We havent experienced a single scam & were truly impressed by the hospitality of Balinese locals. But our whole vacation ended on a bitter note at the airport when we chose to dine at Two Dragons. No food photos attached here as this review isnt about the food (although I would say that the food is mediocre at best) but rather about their staff. I’m surprised to see that there are many good reviews of this place and maybe it was just this one staff I was unfortunate enough to encounter. She introduced herself as Sari and warmly welcomed us with a smile and brought us to a table next to a large fan seeing that we were fanning ourselves from the heat on that day. We were impressed and appreciated her gesture. Before she got us the menu, she asked if she could get us started with some still or sparkling water, and without any doubt or hesitation, we asked for still water, assuming it was just a typical question. She returned with the menu, and as we were making our food selection, another male staff walked over to place down three glasses and had already opened this fancy water bottle Acqua Panna and poured water into the glasses. I was quite surprised that they served such premium water and wanted to decline but since he had already poured and thinking that that was the only choice of water they had, we’ll have to take it anyway.
After we looked through the menu and finished ordering, we realized that they actually had two choices for water, Still water 45K and “Premium” Still water for 75K. So she took the liberty to get us the premium one without even asking if we consented to it. I understand that service charge is 9.8% of the total bill. I may be wrong but one may think she was trying to upsell in order to earn that extra charge? But to be fair, if the service was good, I don’t mind paying extra to help the staff.
While we were waiting for our food, another lady customer sat down at the table behind us. And we couldn’t help but overhear that Sari did the same thing and offered water before showing the menu. The lady initially ordered still water but maybe she sensed something was wrong so she later asked how much the water costed and once Sari said 80K(including tax), the guest was shocked and refused to order any drink. She proceeded to order her meal.
We observed the whole situation and couldn’t help but think that she upsells the premium water to all her customers, without letting them know of the choices they have.
Later on, after we finished our meal, the bill came & I was surprised to see that there was extra avocado added to the bill.
I asked what that was and Sari refused to answer. I said that I had ordered the Veg Spring rolls & the menu did not specify that there were any add ons. I assumed the avocado was part of the veg ingredient for ordering a veg spring roll (as there were choices for pork/prawn/chicken/veg & all was set at the same price). So once again, she took the liberty to add this in & assumed I wouldn’t notice it in the bill.
Once I pointed it out to her that I did not ask for it,she rolled her eyes and blatantly said “It’s okay mam, if you don’t want to pay then don’t” and walked off with the bill. (Attached is the revised bill she came back with) So that’s it? If the customer never noticed the bill, she would just add in any charge? I think this is a very dishonest thing to do & there is no integrity in her service. Although this may be just one individual, her actions stained our experience after such a wonderful week in Bali with every other kind Balinese people.
I do not know how Two Dragons manage their staff but if your system puts your staff in a spot where they need to earn extra money from the service charge like this, I think it best to revisit and revise the way your operate. But if you are aware of this and condone this behavior, then I have nothing...
Read moreTwo Dragons restaurant at the Bail Airport is a true gem in the world of airport dining. From the moment I walked in, I could sense the quality and care put into every aspect of this establishment. The ambiance was inviting, the staff attentive and friendly, and the culinary experience truly exceptional. It's rare to find such a high level of service and delicious food within an airport setting.
One of the things that really stood out to me was their flexibility and willingness to accommodate dietary preferences. I opted for the pineapple fried rice, which wasn't initially vegetarian on the menu, but the chef was more than happy to make it vegetarian for me. This attention to detail and customer satisfaction truly sets Two Dragons apart. The dish itself was a flawless blend of flavors, with just the right amount of spice to elevate the taste.
Another highlight of my dining experience was the option to customize my own noodles. I indulged in the Bob sets noodle, which came with a variety of fresh vegetables and flavorful sauces. The ability to tailor my meal to my preferences made the dining experience more personalized and enjoyable. The noodles were cooked to perfection, retaining a great texture and absorbing the delicious sauces beautifully.
When it came to dessert, the fried banana with ice cream was a delightful treat to end my meal. The only minor hiccup was the unexpected chocolate crumbs at the bottom, which, had I known in advance, I would have requested to be left out. However, this small oversight did not detract from the overall excellence of the dish. The combination of warm, crispy banana with cold, creamy ice cream was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures.
In addition to my main meal, I also indulged in the veggie samosas, which were simply fantastic. Each bite was bursting with savory goodness, and the crispy exterior complemented the flavorful filling perfectly. The presentation of the samosas was also top-notch, showcasing the chef's attention to detail and culinary artistry.
Overall, my experience at Two Dragons restaurant was nothing short of outstanding. The combination of exceptional food, stellar service, and a welcoming atmosphere truly left a lasting impression. If you find yourself at the Bail Airport and craving a memorable dining experience, I highly recommend stopping by Two Dragons. It's a culinary delight that exceeds all expectations and deserves every bit of its...
Read moreWe actually arrived early at Ngurah Rai International Airport (Bali Airport, International Departures) hoping to try an Indonesian restaurant we saw online, but after walking around… we couldn’t find it. A bit disappointed, we decided to give Two Dragons Restaurant a try instead. And honestly? We’re so glad we did.
We came in expecting just a typical airport meal rushed, overpriced, and nothing memorable. But this was completely different. The first thing we ordered was the crispy pork bun… and wow. The bun was soft and fluffy, and inside was perfectly crispy pork belly juicy, flavorful, with that crackling skin we didn’t expect to find at an airport. It wasn’t too oily, just the right mix of crispy and tender. After one bite, we looked at each other and said, “How is this so good?” Definitely a dish we’ll remember long after the trip!
Then we tried the nasi goreng. We weren’t expecting much since nasi goreng is everywhere in Indonesia but this one was done right. The rice was fragrant with a bit of smoky flavor, well balanced spice, topped with a perfectly fried egg and crispy crackers. It honestly tasted like something from a proper local warung, not your usual airport food. And the portion? Generous enough to share.
What really impressed us was how fresh everything tasted. Nothing felt reheated or rushed, even though the place was busy. The staff handled the crowd professionally attentive, quick, and friendly without making us feel rushed. It was such a chill, pleasant experience, especially in a busy airport setting.
And the prices? Very reasonable for an airport restaurant. Good portions, quality food, and way better than the typical overpriced airport fare.
We left saying, “Why didn’t we know about this place sooner?” If you’re flying out of Bali, do yourself a favor and stop by Two Dragons. The crispy pork bun and nasi goreng are must-tries we’ll definitely be coming back every time we pass through...
