Wow…what a cool /tasty place! We added this restaurant as a “maybe” if we were looking for something to eat after the beach. We didn’t make it here on the intended day and instead made a special trip here when we couldn’t decide what to eat. I’m glad we went…the menu is simple but the dishes are really well prepared. We ordered almost everything so that we could try. Our favorites were the Rendang of course (a little tough but packed with flavor), the fried corn fitters (yum yum…sweet savory), the Tempah & tofu starter, the chicken curry which had an interesting blend of peanut & coconut flavor (really good), the Bakso soup was a bit salty but an easy crowd pleaser and last but not least the fried nasi goreng & fried rice were both good (a little spicy). We also got the Rawon which was a hit or miss for the family. It’s a bit of pepper beef soup curry flavor which is weird. For dessert we only go the carrot cake and it was SUPER GOOOOOD!! The sauce on the side is like liquid sugar magic…it’s a sweet bomb but a great way to end the night after all the more savory mains. We also had a pile drinks but I would say those are not so great. Overall this place is a 9.8/10 (lost points for drinks & tough Rendang) but if you are in the area or if you just want to try a new place do go try they out. There are also a few other little restaurants and a flee market in the same corner so get there early (unlike us) so you have time to walk...
Read moreOur meal at Waroeng Bernadette in Seminyak was a satisfying showcase of Indonesian comfort food done right, elevated with finesse and authenticity.
The Beef Rendang was a standout – tender, deeply spiced, and braised to perfection. Each bite melted effortlessly, with rich layers of coconut and aromatic spices unfolding on the palate. It’s no wonder this dish is often regarded as Indonesia’s culinary pride.
The Gado Gado was equally impressive. The vegetables were fresh and blanched just right – crisp yet tender, with none of the raw greenness that can sometimes overpower this dish. The peanut sauce was thick and earthy, balanced beautifully with a boiled egg and crunchy crackers, adding satisfying texture to each spoonful.
The Chicken Satay was another highlight. Nicely charred and juicy, the skewers were full of smoky depth. What made them truly memorable was the intriguing duo of sauces – a nutty blend and a unique concoction of kicap manis, shallots, and chili. The sweet, savory, and slightly spicy notes came together harmoniously, offering a flavour twist that kept us dipping for more.
The cozy, rustic ambiance of Waroeng Bernadette added to the experience, making it a great spot for a casual yet memorable Indonesian meal. Whether you’re a first-timer or a returning fan of local flavors, this place...
Read moreWe had a dinner here last night. We reserved a table via Google. The restaurant had 2 different settings. One was liked outside and the other (smaller) was inside the glassed house. I saw all the reservations were assigned inside which had AC and fans. Here is my rating. Food: 5/5. We ordered a beef and a vegetarian dishes. The beef dish was flavorful. The portion was generous and the meat was very tender. The sauce was slightly salty to my taste so I added 2 piece of lemons and it was perfect. My friend really liked the vegetarian dish. He said it was very tasty. Our drinks were also good and refreshing. Staff: 5/5 All staff were very polite and attentive. Our waitress named Kadet and she was wonderful. She always served with a smile. She answered all of our questions clearly and very responsive. Ask for her table when you come here. You wont be disappointed. Atmosphere:5/5 The place was clean, comfortable temperature. Restroom was clean but the faucet need to be fixed. It was very loose and the water kept running all the time. Overall we had a great dinner at this place. Prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant. The restaurant was in a same area with a small market. Use Google map to get here was easy. Dont use Google live view. It took me to a weird...
