This is a wonderful place to stop over for breakfast, lunch or dinner ❤️ we really loved it from the first time we stopped by for dinner. The restaurant is run by a group of talented, kind, dedicated people who put all their heart into preparing delicious local and western food, they make beautiful presentation of food with authentic traditional elements, the ingredients are fresh and delicious. We enjoyed all, the smoothies, curries, especially the panna cotta dessert ! Chef Bahar even makes his own Batik napkins for the restaurant. We also had a special event, 50th birthday party, celebrated in the restaurant and the kindness of everyone was incredible, they even surprised us with a chocolate birthday cake! We enjoyed our every meal there and had so much fun talking to the chef and all the people working in the restaurant, they shared so many lovely stories about the island and life there. This is a must place to visit when in Gili air and we can't wait to come back again. Warmest greetings from...
Read moreRead the reviews of any restaurant on Gili Air and I guarantee at least one reviewer has said “best food on the island!!” But with people staying here for only a few days on average, how many places could they have really tried?? I’ve been here almost a month, eating out at least once a day, so please believe me when I say this is one of the best meals I’ve had. I tried the watanho with chicken, mainly because I’d never heard of this dish before. So glad I did - it was awesome! I wolfed it down like I hadn’t eaten in a week (classy, I know!) A perfect medley of fresh flavours and textures. They used to be located on the beach but are now on the main road leading up from the harbour. Look for the “Firda Warung” sign (not Farida!) and you’ll be in the right spot (context: they were a husband and wife team that split). Couldn’t give the atmosphere 5 stars because they started playing some kind of speed metal music that I eventually asked them to change (which they did, immediately.)...
Read moreI could say a few nice things about this place, but let's cut straight to the point. There were ants in the rice. And not in one dish. In all of them. I know people eat ants and I know it's a tropical island but if you can't keep insects out of the food, something is going wrong in the kitchen. The food was fine and the location is great, but we didn't order ants. If you don't mind anty rice, be my guest. But we do, so it spoiled the meal. Kind of wishing we'd just had a coffee instead, since the place seems to be...
