Do NOT go here for fish!

We came here with high hopes, but this was by far the worst fish experience we’ve ever had in Bali — and we’ve had many.

We ordered octopus, calamari, and a red snapper, with a side of fries and potatoes. The calamari was just okay — nothing special, kind of bland, but edible. The fries and potatoes were decent too, but let’s be honest, how do you mess up potatoes?

The real disappointment was the red snapper. They told us it was fresh — “from today.” What we got was a deep-fried, previously frozen fish that had just been thrown on the grill. The texture was awful: rubbery, sticky, and completely inedible. It felt like chewing on a gummy ball. We couldn’t believe it.

To make it worse, when we tried to politely mention the problem, the staff first acted defensive, saying it’s normal and that we “don’t know anything about fish.” Then it escalated — they became rude and even swore at us, telling us not to come back. It was honestly shocking.

Later that day, we went to a local fish market and had a real red snapper — juicy, fresh, bright red and full of flavor. That’s the kind of quality you usually expect in Bali. But not here.

There are so many amazing seafood places in Bali. Please don’t waste your time or money here. The service, the food, the attitude — all incredibly...

I like this place’s atmosphare a lot, very lovely on the beach. Staff is also very nice and respectful. Coctails we tried were also nice. When it comes to the food, I think there are 2 major things 1-seafood was fresh and reasonably priced.but I think the place is understaffed, our food came very cold although being literally cooked 20m from us. It also came very late. We sent it back to reheat which is ridiculous, and when it came back, it was slightly warmer. Same thing happenned with our coctails, my husband went to take it at some point because it was ready and sitting at the bar for a while. 2- They put the same sauce on top of everything we ordered although they haven’t told us when selecting. Everything tasted same and I wanted to taste the seafood not the sauce. When we tried yo break the food off from the sauce, it felt tasteless due to no salt I guess. Anyways I didn’t enjoy the food but loved the place for a drink and I would really recommend them to improve their service speed and inform/ ask people...

Food (BBQ seafood) was VERY cold when it reached the table. We waited for a very long time, food was cold and they told us they run out of the baked potatoes we had order (which is totally understandable) but we then saw other tables getting them served after us. It’s expensive for what you get. We were looking for a place that was a bit more pricey than what you normally pay for dinner in Gili and we chose this place as it looked busy and the fish looked good. However, we do not recommend it.
