Had a tough decision on staying in the heart of Gili or littel further and getting nicer and cheaper places or villas. The deciding factor was being where the action was that didn't require us to ride bikes every time we wanted to go out to eat or dive etc... and proximity to ferry dock. This place is smack in town and convenient and this would gave me some reiief when my daughters went on their own esp at night as they would just walk. Be sure to get the deluxe room as they are nicer and quieter. They have nice little garden upon entering then nice room with great AC and full jug of water dispensor so have a bottle to refill you needs and put in fridge. The shower is in the semi outdoor washroom. It's not hot and to my surprise no bugs in the washroom. Nice to shower under the stars. Yes the water is a bit salty. They use a mix of fresh and salt water but not too bad. Breaky was at the irish bar and was not too bad, fried rice or noodles, smoothie bowl, pancakes or bacon and eggs. The fruit juices are pretty bad - just cartons but coffee was an americano from real espresso machine. ||||yes there is lots of noise so be warned. Yes some nights til 1-2am. you can hear the thump but were were able to fall asleep after full day of diving/snorkeling or just chillin. The mosque cannot be heard that much at around 5am.||||We did experience an earthquake our first day in the room. The room shook hard and we found out it was 5.8 magnitude - Aug 22nd. You will hear also some big things running on roof. Not sure if cats or giant rats but no biggy.||||pool is nothing home to write about. Bit murky but who needs it when you have nice beaches 5 min walk away. Bikes can be rented but i got it slightly cheaper right next door after bargaining a bit||||overall nice stay - we had connecting room for a family of 4 which was nice.||||as it was high season it was fairly expensive esp given we needed 2 rooms. But then again Gili T is a bit costly compared to the rest...

I got food poisoning from eating their hamburger because it wasn't cooked thoroughly. I drew the waiter's attention to it when I was halfway through my burger. It was hard to see properly because the restaurant is lit by candlelight, but upon closer inspection, the hamburger meat obviously hadn't been cooked through. It was slightly charred on the outside of the burger.
The waiter looked at it and then told me that Australian beef is naturally red, but when I asked him to cook it some more, he refused because I had already eaten half of it. I told him that I wouldn't have eaten any of it if I could've seen the burger in real light when it arrived. I remarked that I hoped I wouldn't get sick from the part I'd already eaten, and we left. My husband's food also wasn't fresh. The tomatoes for the bruschetta weren't fresh, and he didn't finish his meal either.
Two hours later, I had food poisoning and spent the next two days sick in our bungalow. My husband went back to the restaurant to ask for our money back on the burger. He found the waiter who served us and he refused to do anything about it. Then he went to the manager to tell the manager what happened, and the manager said it was too bad that I was sick. He refused to do anything about our meal either.
This was one of the more expensive meals that we had in Gili Trawangan, and we lost two days out of our vacation because of the food poisoning I got from their cheese burger.
You'd be better of spending your time and money elsewhere. There are definitely better places to eat at...
Read moreAbsolutely disappointing Gili T pub crawl organised by this fraud of a Irish Pub. They promise a free T-shirt ( extremely poor quality and design ) , free bucket of alcohol ( 0.001 % of alcohol mixed with 4 types of juices ) and shots at every 1 of the 4 bars part of the crawl ( again 0.001% alcohol mixed with juice ) The pub crawl games are not engaging nor frequent and the the starting pub aka the Irish Bar does not have a discounted menu for the pub crawlers! ( extremely shameful)
Unless you are of British Nationality and under 25 years of age would highly recommend that you avoid this pub and the much publicised pub crawl as it provides zero ROI for the 250k charged per person
PSA - Beware of the “MC” Nagendra aka Nagz who again promises to provide you a “good time “ but miserably fails to do so! The pub games at the Irish Pub are also aligned to anyone who has a British Passport, so boohoo if you are not a British citizen!
Do go to the Sama Sama Reggae Bar- they have amazing live music and good drinks ( imported...
