Dapur EL — Restaurant in Yogyakarta

Super delicious tempeh and Tahu, the sambal is sweet and not too spicy. There's no vegetarian dish per se but enough sides that can be combined. The tilapia was a dream together with the watershed and the green bean and coconut salad. My favourite was the Nasi Goreng special though. Considering the fact that I've eaten that dish many times. Here the mixture of flavours, the slightly smoky taste of the stir fry, the thinly chopped chilly and crispy yet moist fried rice were perfect. And all that came with a super fluffy, mild and well seasoned omelet.

We ordered 2 extra portions of that fine sambal and the staff were kind and happy we liked it so much. We were so full afterwards that the freshly blended fruit juice were enough as a dessert.

Definitely want to go again and order that Nasi...

Out of curiosity, I made a stop with my family at this popular Indonesian restaurant at Jl. Parangtritis, Yogyakarta City. In dismay I found only a small and empty outlet with simple seating and no parking lot, more like an average Padang food shop, ... and no smile. We tried the so-called Spectacular Taliwang chicken with egg omelette, and yes it was so yummy (5/5). The onion ring was good but too oily (4/5). The hot Vanilla Latte was perfect (5/5, maybe it was a packaged drink), but the hot sweet hot tea and sweet lemon tea were terrible (1-2/5),,, not hot at all and the lemon tea was so sour. A clean restroom with a Western style closet. Very good free WiFi (5/5). The dining room was hot even at night although there were electric fans. Not...

Food here was excellent and priced very reasonably. I ordered the crispy shrimp in black pepper sauce with a side of their traditional indonesian salad which was so so good. My husband ordered the Nasi goreng and he really enjoyed that too. He said the chicken it came with was cooked to perfection. I also ordered a fresh lemonade that was delicious and so refreshing. I can't remember the name but I'm sure they can figure it out.

Best of all was the staff. We really appreciated how kind and friendly the staff were. They really made us feel at home....
