Barcadia Video Arcade — Restaurant in Cork

Honestly never been so disappointed with a place in my life. Booked in about a month in advance for my Boyfriends birthday. We travelled from Dublin and booked to stay in Cork just to come here. I received an email to confirm my booking on Saturday, which I confirmed. I got a call this morning from Barcadia saying that they don’t serve food Monday or Tuesday and that I can use my pigsback voucher another time. Firstly I did not book using a pigsback voucher so I don’t know why the staff member would assume this. I told her the reason I booked and asked was the full cocktail and drinks menu available as We wanted to get the cocktails with the characters on them. I was assured that everything other then food would be available. We arrived in and I asked for a drinks menu. I was reluctantly handed a drinks menu and told that there was no cocktails available tonight. Exactly the opposite of what I had been told on the phone. We booked a night in cork jusy to come here and it was disappointment after disappointment. You shouldn’t be letting reservations go through for nights that there is no food and certainly don’t email with a confirmation and leave it until a couple of hours before to make a phone call and then tell us that there will be a service that actually isn’t available. Extremely disappointed isn’t even close to explaining and I certainly will not ever be recommending to anyone. To top it all off the girl behind the bar honestly couldn’t have cared less. Literally shrugged her shoulders at us and told us to go upstarts. Not the service I would...

The staff at this place are excellent and defo the best part of the night. We visited on 12 Nov and everybody was very friendly and looked after us well.

Large group of us got food drinks and played some games. The food here is ok but I wouldnt say its the best around the place. The chicken burger in particular wasn't great. Food service is very slow as its a really busy spot.

The games tokens at €6 for ten is good value but i felt there wasn't many machines there to use them on. Could do with some more variety to be honest. I have to admit I was hugely disappointed there was no Time Crisis.

Not all the machines were working either so thats why i couldn't give it a higher score for a review. The Right hand unit of outrun 2 has a broken load cell in the steering wheel so it just ruins two player fun when the car doesn't turn properly

I understand these machines are expensive to run and maintain so it isn't easy to have them all going but the main ones like outrun draw a crowd so these have to be right, similar to the deflated balls in the basketball machine. Just pointless and ruins the fun.

I feel like the idea behind the bar is great but their execution needs some attention.

Not sure I would return to be honest but it is different to anything else in cork and credit to them...

I think the owner and customers should know about our experience. With my partner we love this place, everytime we visit Cork we love going to Barcadia and play some arcade games and it is always good fun, but this time it was not. We had the pulledpork nachos... the cuacamole was not green but dark green defo from the days before, we found a little piece of packaging plastic mixed with our pulled pork. Half of the machine are either out of service or not working properly, you put your token in the slote and the machine takes it and the game never starts or it gives you back the token and it never starts. The arcade units look like they are not taking care of, some or broken and fixed with duck tape... and the worst part was that every single machine is dirty and everytime you grab the commands or push a button you can fill the greasy fingers of the people who played before you. No handsanitiser, no wipes to clean the stations, it was very disgusting. The music was not great and there was no atmosphere at all. The staff was just sitting around chatting not doing anything, when there was defo a lot to do (I worked in the service industry so I know how it is like)... That was pretty disappointing. Not going back until they do...
