I was walking towards the Botanical gardens when I saw the colours of Italy hanging around in the street. Turns out it was an italian restaurant. I wasn't really hungry at the time so I did go to the gardens beforehand. On my way back I finally decided that I was hungry enough to grab a bite. And well, that was the right choice.

When I entered the restaurant I heard a nice and warm welcome. I knew at this moment that it was going to be a great experience. The chef and owner of the restaurant is a great host, he knows how to entertain his customers and we had the leisure to talk and have a few laughs. I had the pleasure to talk with another customer of his as well which was really insightful and gave me tips for my trip in Ireland. He also offered me a glass of wine, and to a french person that means a lot.

Now let's talk about the food, that's an important thing too right? I listened to the chef recommandations and had a pasta with onions, tomatoes, bacon, chilli, garlic oil, parsley with penne. Obviously with some parmigiano and a touch of black pepper on top. That dish is called "Amatriciana". The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce was delightful. It's actually one of the best, if not the best pasta dish I ever had. And I must say I had many! As a dessert there was no tiramisu on the day I went to this place, but the chef didn't let me go without a sweet touch. He prepared a special thing for me : a pain au chocolat with Chantilly cream. I had never tried that and I really liked it!

The overall experience was amazing, it doesn't happen that often to meet such a tenant paired with great food. Most of the time you get one or the other. Today I had both, I will recommend this place to my friends if they ever visit Dublin and I recommend it now to you people reading this as well!

It did add a great silver lining to my day and to my overall trip, I hope it will for you too!

Enjoy and...

My last meal in Ireland was here at Dall’Italiano and honestly, it was the most memorable meal I have ever had, and the best way to end my trip. I walked over half an hour there with two friends because we were curious after seeing such good reviews, and it was absolutely worth it. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and seated by the owner who treated us as if we were family visiting after many years. He was incredibly personable, and instead of just handing us menus, asked us about what kind of food we each liked and gave us suggestions on what he thought we would like best. He didn’t miss. Our meals came out in a few minutes, and were done with them just as fast. One of my friends and I had the chicken & chorizo, and my other friend had the carbonara. We all agreed it was the best Italian food we had ever eaten. You could taste the love in every bite, and I truly never had anything like it. We also enjoyed a delicious wine with our meals and the owner even lit up candles setting up a beautiful warm ambiance for our evening dinner. The tiramisu was also perfection, the creamiest and sweetest I’ve ever tried, and something I might never be able to have anywhere else after trying here. I recommend this place to anyone who wants an unforgettable dining experience, and hope I can someday return with more people I love to share this...

I am visiting from New York to help care for my elderly Irish mother…I’ve worked as a chef for most of my adult life…I love food, I love when food meets with the higher purpose it is capable of. It was a long day, and late at that, when I happened upon this little spot just a few blocks from my mother’s residence. It is small, but thoughtfully appointed. I was greeted by Vio, who is the chef/proprietor. I wished for take-out, and he explained to me the lay of the land. He was direct, but not off-putting. I glanced the menu and decided that I’d stay. He served as waiter but I gathered quickly that he was the waiter/chef/proprietor. I had a feeling I’d found a gem, and they is exactly correct. This was the most superb fettuccine bolognese I have ever had the pleasure of. The noodles were THE MOST SPOT-ON al dente that I have EVER had in my life…the amount of fresh reggiano shavings, balance of sauce to noodles….I could have this at the most top-flight Italian establishment anywhere and it would not be topped at any price. That is the truth of it. I thanked him gratefully and profusely afterward, and he kindly brought me a wonderful espresso, gratis. I asked him from where he hailed, and, of course…Milan, Italy. You will do your self a service and any guest you bring with you an honor by making a visit and enjoying his most...
