A nice chill place to meet friends (3.5/5 Green Stars) On a sunny afternoon, the outdoor seating area at Fegan’s was pretty busy but we managed to nab a table. Staff members were all nice as pie and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. I had a spinach roll and pistachio cake (vegan), which were both really good – particularly the cake. Nice to see a demonstration that vegan cakes can be every bit as good, if not better, than cakes made with conventional dairy. I also had a Madri beer but then switched to Franciscan Well. Madri seems to have come from nowhere to dominate advertising in Ireland’s bars and cafes right now so I looked it up – it’s marketed by Molson Coors (boo!). Anyway, Fegan’s is a fun, whimsical place to spend time – check out their vegan cakes! I’m giving Fegan’s 3.5 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, for these reasons: • Perhaps slightly more veggie options than an average place, but still a lot of meat on the menu. There are a lot of good meat substitutes available now so it would be nice to see some effort to include them. For example, I think a substitute like Quorn mince would work fine in their cottage pie and lasagna. • They have a selection of really good vegan cakes. • Fegan’s website states that ingredients are “all ethically produced, organic, and free range, where possible.” • The menu states that eggs are free range. • All 4 beers brands are owned by Molson Coors (Madri, Blue Moon, Franciscan Well, Aspall’s cider) although some were once indie. Molson Coors ranks below average in terms of ethics, in general. For example, it was one of the top donors to climate denial research in the US. Of the four, Franciscan Well is the better choice.

Fagans is exactly the type of Cafe Dublin needs! It serves great breakfasts and incredible lunches as well as having an exciting eclectic atmosphere. Their ingredients are of the highest quality and they list all their suppliers. The mouthwatering Breakfast and Lunch menu can be seen in my photographs. Vegetarian options are well catered for. Just look at their food combinations, they really taste as good as they read! Inspiring and creative food that will have you writing down the menu! If you just want a coffee/tea and delicious cakes, muffins etc. I can tell you they are the best I've had, my muffin was still warm! The prices are very reasonable too. I'm always looking for somewhere quirky and unique to meet friends or bring visitors to, so when they can open up again for seating after lockdown I'll be first on one of their velvet couches, listening to the live impromptu music sessions that can happen when a musician drops in! At the moment it's just takeaway but do have a wander around the varied themed rooms. In my photos you can get a good idea of the magical place I'm talking about. Thank you Fagans for making Dublin lifestyle interesting, reminds me of cool Cafes you find in Berlin or Amsterdam.

This place is the place-to-be for a celiac-friendly breakfast experience! We stayed at the Hampton hotel down the street but were once too late for breakfast. Therefore, we needed to find a place where I as a celiac was also able to eat safely. This place is definitely a go-to place for celiacs. Almost all the items on the breakfast/lunch menu can be prepared gluten-free as they have gluten-free bread. I ordered something with bread, egg, home-made hummus and avocado and some fruits, and let me tell you, it tasted a-ma-zing! The home-made hummus was absolutely great (please send me the recipe!) and all the other things were too. It all tasted fresh and simply delicious. Without a doubt the best breakfast I had in Dublin, and for a good price. The staff was very friendly too. It is however a bit cold inside this restaurant and it does not seem very well isolated. If you are planning on having breakfast here in colder months, make sure to have warm clothes on. Other than that, great place!
