It must be 30+ years since I was last in Humphreys. Had been in the Stella earlier to see a movie, and we decided to walk over to Ranelagh to have a drink. I thought I'd check out one of my old favourites.
I used to love this place with its worn sofas scattered with random cushions. Like the living room of some grand old Victorian house sliding into genteel decay.
The beautiful old pub front is still there, but the interior is all changed. It's been replaced with a modern functional interior. Lots of televisions around the place showing Wimbledon when we visited. But there was also an annoying soundtrack blasting out over the sound system so you couldn't hear what was on tv anyway.
I had a vodka and coke, which came in at €9.20, the vodka making up €6 of that. Likewise, a Capt. Morgan for herself was €6. A bit expensive maybe, but it's Ranelagh! The staff were friendly and chatty, which always helps.
