We just moved to this part of Dublin so we were glad to find out that there was a nearby izakaya along the Liffey. Ichiwa had a great interior and a wonderful staff. For lunch, we ordered the octopus nigiri and prawn tempura to start. The nigiri was really lovely and I could have easily had a few more. The prawn tempura was in a light, crispy batter and was very flavourful especially with their fantastic tempura sauce. We appreciated the complimentary lotus root crisps that we got at the start too.
For our mains, we got the seafood yakisoba and the tatsuta age. Both were uniquely more flavourful compared to some of the other Japanese restaurants in central Dublin.
During our visit, they didn't have Japanese desserts so hopefully next time, they start selling them too.
As an izakaya, they have a really diverse selection of alcoholic drinks from Japan. Ichiwa would be a good place to sample some. Definitely returning to Ichiwa to sample more of their...
Read moreRainy day in Dublin and didn’t want to go far from Hilton Garden Inn-this place is so close! The food was pretty good & a great value! I had the daily bento box which was a lot of food with miso, salad, main w/ veggies and 4 pcs Cali roll and 4 pcs tempura shrimp. Hubby had their Teppanyaki Duck - huge portion and nicely cooked- crispy edges, moist duck and not over-sauced! The duck was on a bed of freshly cooked veggies & served with rice. We were both pleasantly surprised and both meals were under €20. They also have wine, sake & beer, but on a cold night, we ordered hot teas! The Yuzu hot tea was delicious. I recommend this place if you are by the Jeanie Johnston /EPIC museum and looking for an alternative to Irish stew and...
Read moreCute place, amazing view during the day as its located just next to the river. We went during the night so no pics, but it was cosy regardless. Bit more effort to hide storage stuff would make it more professional.
We had californian roles and sushi which was great taste and fair portion for a fair price
However, for starters we had deep fried calamari and deep fried prawns which were a bit tasteless ( without sauce not worth it). A bit much oil as well (they used wrong paper to absorb extra oil)
If I would go back would probably try Ramen or something else but there are other places that might be better choice to explore Japanese food, depends on what you are having.
