GOOD ATHMOSPHERE GOOD PINT OF ARTHUR G. THIS PUBLIC HOUSE IS A FANTASTIC PUB TO BE IN WHEN BIG CLASH G A A. MATCHES ARE TAKING PLACE IN NEARBYE CROKE PARK . ON ONE OCCASION LAST YEAR WHEN TIPPERARY WERE PLAYING.DUBLIN , MY HUSBAND HAD HIS TICKET FOR THE MATCH PLAYED.IN CROKER BUT MYSELF AND THREE FRIENDS HAD NONE SO WE SETTLED FOR WSTCHING THE MATCH IN MC GRATHS PUB. THE ATHMOSPHERE IN MC GS WAS ELECTRIC ! AS IT HAPPENED.US THREE DUBS PLUS ONE WATERFORD. ( SORRY ALERT I MEANT TO TEXT.MAYO.NOT TIPP. A SENIOR ,MOMENT ! ) ONLY.ONE POINT MADE THE DUBS THE WINNERS OF THE FINAL. BOTH FOLLOWERS WERE HAVING CANARYS UP TO.THE LAST SECOND OF THAT GAME. BUSINESS WAS AT A FRANTIC PACE BUT STILL THE MEN AND WOMEN BAR STAFF WERE WELL UP TO IT AND FOR IT !! THE FRIENDLY RIVALRY BETWEEN DUBS AND MAYO MOB.WAS GOOD CRAIC. IF YOU LIVE IN DUBLIN AND FREQUENT MCGRATHS MAY BE IF YOU ARE TALKING TO A TOURIST YOU CUD SUGGEST THEY CALL INTO MC GRATHS TO SAMPLE THIS GAELIC...

Second pint of the day was a short walk away in McGrath's, an ordinary decent boozer as they would say. Pretty dull frontage, all brown, but inside it was nice and comfy, wooden interior and had some decent beers on tap. I sat down at the busy enough bar for that time of the day, and went for a pint of Galway Hooker Pale Ale, something I have heard raved about online, it has won awards don't you know! Served fast enough by the friendly bar man, pint was great, lovely and cool, and enjoyed my short time here having a nice quiet chat with the brother. The bar has a bit of a local feel to the place which adds to its cozy atmosphere.

Apparently this place does good food too, with great reviews online, which I would never have guessed and I didn’t see any menus hanging around. Ah next time I am in town so………..

Went here a couple times after GAA games it's your box standard pub, extremely busy like every where else in that area after a game so it's not the best time to review it under those circumstances, as the wait times are extremely long, abd the amount of people there trigger any deep hidden claustrophobia you may never been aware of. I would recommend trying it out on a day that there isn't a game on to get a true sense...
