The Beer Market — Restaurant in Dublin

Originally thinking it to be out of my price range, at a couple of euro more dear than the cheapest meals around, my opinion was completely turned around. The barman served us fast and let us order food even though the kitchen was closing, even coming to our table to take our order. The range of beer on offer was large, though perhaps not as large as you'd expect from a place calling itself 'The Beer Market', but those we tried were good craft IPAs. House white wasn't bad either. The food was great, steak perfectly cooked, the chunky crispy chips-almost-wedges were not my style but went really well with the sauce provided. And the marinade on the spicy chicken tasted great, and had the right amount of kick for me, like a medium hot in Nandos. We went to The Beer Market in Dublin after a comedy gig at the weekend and I was really disappointed with the attitude and professionalism of the bar staff. There was a big group of people there and without us the place would have been quite empty. It was like the bar staff couldn't have cared less if we were there or not. No politeness at all. It was like they were doing us a favor serving us drink. We had asked about any specials offers for the group and absolutely fine with none being available but the way they responded was like we had asked for freebies. Straight up "no" and a patronising chuckle. We all really enjoyed our night anyway but I would never recommend this place to anyone. A complete contrast to John's bar...

Awful service. The waiters went by us 4 times without a glance, when I got one's attention he said something without even stopping, came back later and didn't even bring a menu or cleaned the table. When he came back, the menu was only for food, as The Beer Market doesn't think it necessary to have a beer menu. We ordered some sweet potato fries and I had to ask specifically for napkins. They brought 1 napkin, 1 fork (2 people), and no hand sanitizer, so I had to ask for a second fork and more napkins. The fries and the beer were actually quite good, but the service was so bad it's still worth only 1 star. We live nearby and they've lost two...
