On my mission to review every bar in the Metropolitan area of Dublin, Drop Dead Twice was the next stop on my list (early on a Saturday Night). It is a dive bar through and through with craft beers on tap, Guinness (€5.50) and bottles of Buckfast.
There is a not-so-obvious stairwell to the right by the entrance which takes you to the upstairs 'saloon' with the option for B.Y.O.C - where you bring your own cocktails or ingredients and the bar-tender upstairs will make you a cocktail.
There is a pool-table downstairs as well as a variety of seats from couches to high-stools. A stage is located at the end of the bar as well as a DJ booth (it is advised to follow the Facebook page to get all the details on events).
The staff were friendly and good conversationalists.
The kind of music heard during my time at Drop Dead Twice ranged from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, LIT and the Boomtown Rats to Reggae which was played later on.
Conclusion: a true Dive bar without the try hard or pretence of other self-described dive bars in Dublin. A place good for drinking solo or going with groups (e.g. Birthday parties or friends) or simply a place to kick back and relax after a long...
Read moreI visited Drop Dead Twice for brunch on a Sunday with a voucher for a brunch for 2 and took my brother with me. The booking process was really smooth. We ordered Eggs with Salmon and a Steak & Cheese sandwich, Cinnamon bites and Nutella cheesecake and a cocktail each. I had the Cool As and my brother a passion-fruit flavored one. The mains were really good but the deserts were amazing! The Cool As cocktail (gin, ginger, cucumber and basil) is a new favorite of mine. The Passion fruit based one was too sweet for my taste but my brother loved it. Only negative point for this place are the toilets where there was no paper nor hand drier but it might have been just a contingency. Overall, I'll definitely go back for brunch and the great cocktails and I'd like to try their BYO...
Read moreWent to see a band here. Initially all was fine. Later into the evening we were sold our last drink and told we would have time to drink it. Subsequently a member of the bar staff put on a literal song and dance telling all the customers to "Fu#k" off. Afterward he made women feel uncomfortable with his unwanted attention and touches. Finally I heard him threatening to break a musician's arm because he didn't like their playing. All round a very disgusting and amateur performance and I shall not be returning. Do Better. (I have heard other complaints from friends about a particular member of staff's behaviour, so I would advise the bar to look carefully at your...
