Bay Brasserie — Restaurant in Galway

I came here on Friday night after proposing to my girlfriend. I told that to the staff when I made the reservation and they made a perfect they even better. They got me the most amazing table next to an open view of the sea. They brought us two amazing glasses of champagne and the waitress and the manager joined our excitement with their big smiles and good wishes and that made us even happier. I'm eternally grateful to the restaurant and we are planning to come back to it every year for the day (at least).

Cannot finish the review without pointing that the Caesar croquettes were amazing and would recommend them...

My wife and I stayed two nights in Galway. We ate one night in town and reserved our last night for this restaurant on the promenade. The views were amazing. The meals were very good, but my beef was a bit overdone. I started with the cream of tomato and herb soup while my wife went with the chicken and mushroom vol au vent. For the main, I had the roast tip rib of beef in a redwine jus with vegetables. My wife ordered the special fish of baked hake with nduja sausage, capers, and a coriander salad. Vorweg: Ich möchte den vormaligen Rezensenten nicht zu nahe treten, aber wer hier großartige Küche erlebt hat, hat von guten Essen schlicht keine Ahnung. Die Vorspeisen okay, weder handwerklich noch geschmacklich mehr als die Premium Economy bei Lufthansa. (Ein Erlebnis was ich zu vermeiden suche.) Meine Hauptspeise: Fleischmedium, bestellt, vollständig zäh und durchgebraten bekommen, ich habe das Ganze beanstandet. Information aus der Küche: das ist schon zäh vorbereitet, das kann man mir nicht zart neu liefern. (!) Ich konnte mir immerhin aus der Karte etwas Neues bestellen, und ein Drink auf Kosten des Hauses. Überhaupt im Service: eine junge Frau, sehr bemüht, aber keine Ahnung von Wein auf der Karte, und auch keine Ahnung davon, wie man Wein ausschenkt. Bemüht, aber fachlich weit unter dem Standard, den das Hotel nach außen darzustellen versucht. Jedes Detail lieblos und uninspiriert, beginnt mit dem Brotkorb, weiter weiter auch mit dem Hühnchen als weitere Hauptspeise: trocken, Kartoffelgratin geschmacklos.
