I went to this restaurant ( Bombay palace) with my friends and kids, had a very bad experience that I would like to share. the staff ( referred to in other reviews as the old guy / appears as manager or a senior staff member) was very rude to us when I asked for a table. As much as it hurts to admit it was RACISM at its fullest. Total discriminatory behaviour towards us ( bear in mind I had kids with me who were minors) From the way we were spoken to and to the mannerisms and tone. Very mean. The manager called me up to the counter when I asked for a table, just to say that he can only offer a table if I order 3 main course min or else there won’t give us a table , now that was very strange. When I agreed to order 3 main course, he then asked me to go back to the door and wait.. in the first place I don’t understand why he called me from the door end to counter just to say about his “ rule” on 3 course order..there were plenty of tables empty at this stage, set and ready to go but he asked us to wait near the door, He then pointed a finger at me from one end of the room and asked us to move to a corner of the room and continue standing. his tone and manners were totally disrespectful. All customers seated in the room started looking at us for the way he was speaking to us. Living here in Ireland 10 years this was my first experience where by I felt discriminated. I had to walk out of the restaurant at that stage . poor customer service, I would never recommend anyone to go in there for the way they treat customers. We ended up going to another Indian restaurant around the corner ( usmania restaurant) and must say they were great - best food and brilliant staff. I am glad I walked out of Bombay palace, as I wouldn’t want to spend a penny in a place that doesn’t respect humans. Total disgrace !! Someone needs to teach them manners. Scrolling through the other reviews it makes total sense, this is the culture they are operating on. Interestingly all similar feedback are from Indian customers, A Pakistani restaurant named the restaurant as indian for attracting customers yet showing true discrimination all along to...
Read moreThis was some of the worst food I’ve ever eaten. Indian food is one of my favorites for takeaway and to make at home; I’ve been to dozens and dozens of Indian restaurants and this one was by far the worst.
The server had a very difficult time taking our order. I a had couple questions about the dishes on the menu and she had no idea what I was talking about.
Our orders as a result ended up all wrong. I asked for a medium spice level but when the dishes came out it had zero. I asked the manager who came by to check on us if I could have it spiced and he brought it back but it still wasn’t great, overly sweet and very very thin and runny. My partner ordered one dish and got something completely different, and what he did have tasted horrible. Like nothing I’ve ever had before - extremely bitter and acrid. He described it as tasting like “ash in his mouth”. He ended up mixing mine with his to be able to eat it.
On top of that it was very expensive for the serving size. We both got curries and they came out in tiny serving dishes and only then were we told that that don’t actually come with anything, but we could order rice if we wanted - for an extra charge. My partner asked for brown rice which the manager said was an option, but we were brought white saffron rice which was fine but soggy. Unfortunately the naan we also ordered was subpar.
Finally, it was just an overall uncomfortable experience. There were two very inexperienced servers being lorded over by a manager where they all just stood in the back staring at the customers and acting overall nervous.
I hate to give poor reviews but really think people should be warned...
Read moreThe absolute WORST whatever that was cuz certainly wasn't food, it went to the bin disgusting would not eat there again for a million euros.
First time I ate there it was bad but we decided to give it another chance after years because all other indian places were closed and oh boy it was worst than I expected.
Ordered Lamb Tikka masala and chicken karahi. The lamb at least was somewhat edible but overcooked, overly sweet and under seasoned. Hubby was eating that and only ate a bit and the rest to the bin. Normally with Indian food he would eat everything and want seconds.
The chicken dish was something out of this world, no salt whatsoever, no taste and the texture of the chicken at first I thought it was undercooked because it looked raw and rubbery so I decided to microwave it a bit and "finish cooking it" to try and save it. Well that didn't do squat, the texture makes me think it wasn't even chicken, it makes me sick to even think about it, impossible to chew without feeling you're eating raw meat and bland on top of that, my hubby tried it and decided to trow it in the bin that's how disgusting it was.
It wasn't even worth to call the restaurant just don't want to have to deal with them ever again and completely over priced for how bad it is.
Wouldn't give their food to a dog even. ...
