Costa Coffee — Restaurant in South Dublin

I am a regular here as it is very local but over the past few months the coffee seems to be very hit and miss and can sometimes be cold and leave a bitter aftertaste. Another reason for the 2 star review is there always seems to be sections closed off even when it is busy. This can be annoying but especially when I went in today and it was very busy. There were barely any seats left to sit at and none that accommodated 4, yet as I have frequently noticed two corner sections were closed off. I can understand this if it was nearing closing time and they were cleaning down the cafe but this was 3 in the afternoon. I asked a member of staff could we sit at a table at the edge of a closed area and he advised that was no problem. However after half a hour a different member of staff came over and rudely informed us that we shouldn’t sitting there. I advised we had asked a different member of staff as he walked by if it was ok to sit there and he advised it was. She just then rudely asked who we asked and was it a supervisor. I advised I didn’t know if he was a supervisor and she just walked away making us feel we were really putting them out sitting there. At this time the cafe was starting to quite down so I found it strange that the priority of the staff at that point was to go and tell off customers about where they were sitting (we had asked if it was ok to sit at that table) when there seemed to be other things that should be concerned about especially as we were nearly finished and there were numerous recently unoccupied tables that needed attention. Surely customers should be able to use all the seating in coffee shop especially on days like today when it was so busy and there was no cleaning in progress or the floor wasn’t wet in the sections and it wasn’t nearing closing time. From my observation it’s seems certain sections of the cafe get closed off regularly for no apparent reason other than maybe it is to make life a little easier so when it comes to closing down the cafe those area’s will not need to be cleaned as they weren’t used but this isn’t being very...

Costa coffee food and drink are amazing as always, shame about the staff. I went to Costa coffee, Lidl Complex, Tallaght. I was on the phone taking my husbands order and repeating what he said to the server: 1 large dairy hot chocolate 1 medium oat milk hot chocolate 2 x cherry bakewell.

The server got the order wrong and gave me a medium dairy and large oat. When I asked her to confirm which one she came across rude and said large oat, medium dairy like you asked. When I explained I cannot have dairy and she got them the wrong way her response was "well there's not much in the difference". I asked for cream for my husbands dairy hot chocolate and that seemed like too much of an effort for her. It really has put me off from purchasing from that Costa again. My friend and I went for a coffee the other morning. It was at the lunch that I figured out that something was wrong. She ate only half of her soup, and after some time said to me that she must go for a walk... She was a bit off for the whole day...
