Hey everyone, my boyfriend took me out to Jaspers last night after we heard it’s a new place but we were never more disappointed. We had chimichuri prawns for starter which were very tough and like seafood bullets, the mango salsa was nice and fresh but very spicy . My boyfriend had pulled pork with potatoes, carrots and kale… I don’t know where to start, potatoes were over cooked mushy and not seasoned ,kale was just boiled without any flavour. I had ordered the homemade gnocchi… biggest mistake because they didn’t have the signature gnocchi shape but where 5cm flat circles that were overcooked, very mushy… literally overcooked baby food, pesto was too oily but the texture of the fake gnocchi was horrible. The portions are very small, they do not correspond with quality to the high prices. In general an over priced place with small portions and maybe 2/10 for food. Also at the end our check was 82 eur but when it came to paying the waiter put 85 eur on the card machine and we had to correct the error. Do not recommend this place at all. There are much better places to eat. It was also super annoying that literally every second bite staff were coming over to us asking if everything is okay, we barely took a bite and they were asking already. We wanted some peace and not being asked like that. I hope this review will help to anyone who is thinking of...
Read moreMy partner and I went for a meal here and to say it was a bad experience is an understatement.
For starters we ordered bread with a tapenade and was also meant to come with olive oil and salt. When it came out the breads were not suited to olive oil and salt as one was brown soda bread, The oil was missing so we said something was missing and we were brought out butter it was freezing a and hard and as you can imagine it didn't spread on soda bread.
For mains I ordered a chicken leek and mushroom pie. The pie top was clearly a defrosted pastry, the pie filling was missing the mushrooms and the chicken was hard. The side of mash was dry and tasteless. My partners seafood linguine was a disappointment too with the flavors not complementing each other.
For dessert I had vegan fondant chocolate and it was ok but the raspberry sorbet was more like raspberry ice as it was grainy and icy not like any sorbet I have ever had. My partners was an absolute disaster it was meant to be rhubarb and gooseberry crumble. It was very tart and sour and to say there was about a teaspoon of crumble mix on top is not an exaggeration. It was more like a...
Read moreHad meal for 5 of us at 5.30 to 7.30 on a Saturday night. Lovely food served by wonderful staff Holly Stan and Chloe. Phone staff were very obliging when I changed to number of diners on short notice that morning. Noisy music suitable for younger people was playing when we arrived, but when we asked them to turn it down they did, so we could hold conversations. As another reviewer said it's not good to have loud music and the musical genre more suited to young workers than relaxed chatty diners. I had lovey Vegan tofu option and vegan dessert portions were generous and it was very tasty. The braised red cabbage was a bit too sweet, so maybe re-look at the sweet ingredients in that. My friends enjoyed their meals and had no complaints on any of it. Lovely place and if you like to enjoy a quiet dinner of tasty food with generous portions the 5.30pm timeslot is ideal. I'm hoping that if enough diners ask to turn down the music they will stop having it up loud. We will be back, in a few months for sure, as we do monthly meals around Wexford town with our friendly meetup group. I'd recommend it to anyone....
