Sweet Baking Mama — Restaurant in The Municipal District of Carlow

Visited Sweet Baking Mama on a Saturday late morning for breakfast with a companion who recommended it after a visit some time ago. It was not our 1st choice for breakfast in Carlow but our favourite place had stopped serving breakfast at 11.30 so we came to visit.

I was impressed by the options on offer for breakfast. I chose the Waterford blaa filled with egg bacon and sausage. My companion chose an omelette with one filling. The blaa came in two small portions each filled with layers of sausage, fried egg and bacon and looked perfect from the outside. I was very excited by this excellent presentation of breakfast and started to eat the blaa by picking it up and biting into it.

I immediately suspected something was wrong!

I examined the contents of the blaa. The bacon and sausage were cooked to perfection. Bravo Chef!

Unfortunately the fried egg was well below acceptable standard. The yoke of the egg was cooked solid and fell out of the egg when I picked it up on a fork. The white of the egg was burned to a crisp on the bottom.

The humble egg deserves more respect in the cooking process than it got by the Chef/Cook on my visit. I would not recommend Sweet Baking Mama for the quality of their fried eggs and will not visit again...

Sweet Baking Mamas is an absolute gem! The food was incredible, everything was cooked and presented to perfection. My son and I especially loved the sourdough bread served with the Full Irish Breakfast, hands down the best we’ve ever had. From the moment you walk in, Aoife and Roderick make you feel like family. Their warmth and hospitality turn breakfast into an experience. They simply can’t do enough to make you feel at home. It’s the kind of place you want to run away to and stay all day, it was cosy, great value, welcoming, and filled with the aroma of great coffee & amazing food. I don’t normally write reviews, but this place truly deserves one. Restaurants like this are rare these days, everything about it is just perfect.If they took private parties I would definitely book.I would give it ten...
