I must say this is a very lovely restaurant with a real taste of Italy. We got a lovely welcome on arrival. Our waitress was very lovely, nice bright smile which gave us a pleasant welcome. The place has a lovely rustic setting, great ambiance and child friendly. Toilets nice and clean.
Kids menu was offered to my son, and we too were offered our menu and drinks menu. The kids menu stated €8.99 which had a choice of pizza or pasta, a drink and dessert choice of either ice cream or brownie. However when our bill arrived we were charged €9.99 for the kids meal and €1.80 for the kids apple drink. Although the menu stated it offered the 3 selected items of a main, drink and dessert for €8.99. Now I am not short of funds and could afford my child’s meal; my issue is a menu stated a specific price and option but the bill wasn’t reflecting what the menu offered. I did mention to the waitress why were we charged when it’s on the menu as a kids meal? Her response was “sorry he doesn’t offer it any more”. If this was the case then edit the menus with correct pricing or tell the guest correct cost while being served. CHEATING CUSTOMERS isn’t pleasant and not a blessing to your business. I didn’t make much or a scene before we were stereotyped.
The next sour taste in my mouth was my order: I ordered my son’s pizza with no cheese, it arrived with cheese. I ordered a calzone; on the menu the only option was with salami, but I requested to have pepperoni instead. Waitress was like no problem anything you want can be substituted. However again when the bill arrived we were charged extra for pepperoni. Again I had pepperoni rather than salami so why was there an extra charge, I didn’t have both meats; I had one. Yet again this extra charge should have been mentioned but hey that was just added to the bill. With that being said the wrong order arrived with ham and a second time I had to say it was the wrong order; patiently awaiting the correct item.
My mate and I was so excited about the place as we had been planing to visit for a while, we were busy making plans for our next date to come back, food was lovely and waitress was a gem. But the bill just dampened my spirit, I’m an honest person and I just hate the feeling of being cheated. And it’s not about the cost it’s about the principles, money comes and money goes but I just don’t like being mugged for petty cash.
Such a shame though, this is my honest experience at CASA LUNA DUNDALK. Not so sure I’ll be returning based on...
Read moreOne of my worst dining experiences I've ever had. My wife and I ordered the calamari and the batter was so flavourless and crunchy; you'd get more flavour in a battered sausage from the chip shop. Then I got the cannelloni and my wife got the Carbonara, the cannelloni was so overcooked, it must've been blasted in the microwave as the sheet of pasta was so hard and chewy, the mince underneath was like molten lava, no seasoning and chewy like a dog toy. The cheese was so stringy and chewy; it was extremely bad and I have had the best of cannellonis before, I wouldn't even feed this to my dog. My wife's carbonara was extremely oily and salty. We barely took two bites out of the food and called it a day. Then it took 4 attempts to get the waitresses attention, eventually she came over and we asked for the bill. She didn't even ask how was everything. Then when we exclaimed at the counter how we didn't enjoy the food; we were interrogated by the owners on why we didn't like the food; and rather than just saying sorry, they debated us on how that's how the food is supposed to be. I was told the plastic piece of pasta was how cannelloni were cooked and my wife was told her carbonara should be salty because of the bacon. They seemed extremely irritated and started speaking in a different language which was very intimidating. The owner mauled the cannelloni with his bare hands to display how the pasta should be like Play-Doh. He then said "there's other customers upstairs and they're not complaining". I will never enter this establishment again, you couldn't pay me to eat...
Read moreIf it wasn't for the service, this would be the best restaurant in Dundalk at moment. Been 3 times now since it opened. Food is absolutely devine. Is let down to point of i don't think i'll go back for some time, by the slow service. The first night the waitress was lovely and attentive but food was ridiculously slow. the second time the waitress seated us then abandoned us. no drinks offered, we had to call someone. likewise when we wanted to order. then ordered more drink mid meal....totally forgot to bring it so just cancelled it. same at end....no asking did we want dessert...we had to ask. the waitresses are all young and not very confident. needs a maitre d of sorts checking on people. The delay in courses is ridiculous. we sat at 6pm , not many there, starters arrived at 650......mains came at 740.....dessert 20 mins after we asked. its unacceptable really. get more kitchen staff or don' t take so many covers! Family beside us with small kids trying to entertain while waitress just kept ignoring. They were waiting a good 20mins with menus and nobody came to even offer drinks. they had to call someone. Food is top notch so its really something they should sort out or people will avoid for how long you're left sitting. Eggplant parmesan is best I've ever tasted. I appreciate everything is made from scratch....but if its going to be a long wait , explain that to customers , if u know u dont mind so much but there is no communication, the wait staff...
