Its rare I get to give a 5-star rating to a bar. This bar is a must-visit for anyone who has even a passing interest in whisky/whiskey. Having visited a huge number of bars, I can honestly say it takes a lot to impress me at this stage of my life when it comes to bars. Just when I thought I'd fail to be impressed by any more bars, I enjoyed that feeling of "hmmmm this is interesting" when I visited The Dylan Whisky Bar. The moment you walk in you get a sense that great attention is paid to small detail. The walls are lined with a myriad of whiskeys/whiskys. Each one has a price on it which tells the customer how much a shot will cost. Just as impressive is the interior. The low ceiling and hardwood floor (herringbone effect) makes this place feel authentic. The furniture and the decor all are carefully chosen as is the lighting. It would be the perfect place to come for an after dinner whiskey, to bask in the atmosphere of Kilkenny. If you happened to be a wedding party or even a corporate event, I couldn't think of a more suitable place to hold a get-together. As far as I know, the venue will also provide food if for example you are booking as a group. The outside areas are like little tranquil oases in the heart of Kilkenny. The bar also has a good selection of beers and stouts if whiskey isn't your thing. And finally, the staff, and particularly the owner, couldn't have been more hospitable and helpful for anything our group asked. Hence, the rare 5-star rating in this review! As an aside, when I was writing this I learned an interesting fact which ill share: When referring to drinks made in Scotland, Canada, or Japan, the spelling without the e—whisky, is used, whereas when referring to drinks distilled in the United States or Ireland, the e—whiskey, is used! A nice fact you can know when you...
Read moreExcellent whiskey bar with a variety of whiskey ranging from 20 euros upwards but guys, the quality is worth every drop. They also have ale and beer including Guinness (obviously) on tap. The Guinness is gorgeous again, obviously. I have always found time to visit The Dylan, purely because of the quality of product and quality of live music. Real live Irish music. The establishment is clean and authentic in style and decor. The main area is small but cosy Close knit, larger areas are incorporated to the original building, featuring a semi outdoor seating and standing area. A cocktail bar, in partnership I believe is also combined. If I’m the area and in my opinion l, it’s a must see must drop in just to experience the pure Irish culture and heritage. Come on in, pull up a chair and indulge yourselves in a whiskey or...
