We (two families of four) took a boat trip with Anne-Marie in Kilikenny last week, it was fantastic! The jetty is super easy to find, located at the bridge right beside Kilkenny Castle (as shown on Google Maps). We weren't sure if the weather would hold up but need not have worried as Anne-Marie had a bunch of umbrellas at the ready in the boat if the showers came!! We saw plenty of wildlife during the trip and Anne-Marie gave lots of info on these, the river itself and some of the history of the sights along the river banks. The children all enjoyed a turn steering the boat! This is a really nice way to see some of Kilkenny from a different view point and is suitable for all ages. The jetty makes getting on and off the boat really easy. The life jackets supplied are very comfortable and they have numerous sizes available for children of different ages.

We had a fabulous trip today! Elder, our guide was fantastic, both charming and knowledgeable. We’re sadly only passing through Kilkenny but it was great to learn about the city history and it was a beautiful boat ride. We saw a glimpse of an otter & the bubble trail as it swam away which was a highlight as well as three swans and a bus load of ducks. He also encouraged us to each try directing the boat which was a lot of fun. It’s a pretty reasonable price considering it’s almost an hour and small groupings at a time (plus accounting for gas and boat upkeep). An extra kind and thoughtful moment was at the end of the tour was when my mother mentioned she has a boat at our cottage we haven’t used yet so spent a few minutes teaching us about the engine and the gears. Many thanks Elder!

The girls and I planned a day trip to Kilkenny to enjoy some time together over the long weekend. We joined Cliff on a boat trip and had an absolute blast. The tour was brilliant. The location couldn't have been better. We made our booking easily online through the website. The choice of times was great to fit into our schedule. Cliff and Annemarie are excellent hosts and made us all feel so comfortable. The tour is tailored to your needs if you want to learn about local recommendations, history, folklore or just a chat. We took a few photos along the way that will remind us of our wonderful day out with boat trips.ie. 10/10 il definitely be returning with all my family next time!

An Exceptional Way to Begin Exploring Kilkenny!

My mother and I recently had the pleasure of joining a boat tour in Kilkenny, and the experience was nothing short of excellent. Despite booking at the very last minute, the organisers welcomed us without hesitation, showing genuine flexibility and professionalism.

Our guide, Cliff, made an immediate impression—not only by helping my mother safely on and off the boat with care and patience, but by setting a relaxed and friendly tone that lasted throughout the trip. His effortless humour and down-to-earth manner put both of us completely at ease, transforming what could have been a simple river journey into something truly special.

The 45-minute tour offered exceptional value. Cliff’s extensive knowledge of Kilkenny’s history was apparent in every story he shared. He brought centuries of heritage to life with fascinating insights and vivid details, all while pointing out key landmarks along the way. It gave us a clear sense of direction for further exploring the city after the tour—and made us feel much more connected to its charm and character.

This boat trip is ideal for visitors of any age. I wholeheartedly recommend starting your adventure here. Cliff and the team create an experience that’s informative, entertaining, and warm in every...

Awesome experience...

Kilkenny boat tour was a great experience right from the booking till end of the tour. I booked a private tour for my family (two adults, two senior citizens & a child) & we reached the embarking point 5-10 mins earlier.

The boat arrive right on time & we were greeted by ever smiling boatman Mr. Clifford Reid while finishing up his previous round. He helped every one of us to put on safety jackets & everything. He helped the seniors to safely get on the boat & offered cushions. He also recommended the seating places & once everyone was settled, we set off.

The boat ride is a very pleasant & tranquil experience. 'Cliff', as he prefers to be called, is an experienced & knowledgeable person & provides a lot of important information during the tour. Don't miss on it.

Cliff offered each of us to try driving the boat & we enjoyed that part as well.

The tour lasts for about 40-45 minutes & you get to know many different things which would normally be missed (from the land) in Kilkenny visit.

So, if you're coming to Kilkenny, this boat ride is a must do in your activities, that too...
