I have just turned vegan from vegetarian, and my 5 friends are all meat & fish eaters - and they were not disappointed either. Quite the opposite. The challenge for me as a new vegan when dining out, is I don't want to be a burden on a chef and the waiting staff. I mentioned when booking one of us was a vegan, which they advised was no problem, and told me they would call me that day to verify meal. True to their word, they called to check if I had any allergies. Upon sitting, I was incredibly surprised (and delighted!) to have the lovely waitress come to the table discreetly to show me a handwritten vegan menu with choice of 2 starters, 2 main course, and 2 vegan desserts! I opted for the mushroom starter cooked with beautiful flavours and a homemade sourdough bread - so so tasty, and lovely and light as a starter. Next I opted for the Thai red curry with chickpeas, courgette and other veg, with mixed colour rice. It was simply beautiful - no tinned chickpeas here (if they were, I need to find out what brand, as I soak my own at home). Finally the dessert was either a mango sorbet or a chocolate avocado mousse. It was Outstanding! A large portion so although I only ate half of it, it wasn't for lack of desire for it.
I was so impressed with the chef and waiting staff's special effort to accommodate me, so THANK YOU Room 8 team - outstanding meal, decor, ambiance.
I've already booked my next meal for December. Highly recommend. My omnivore friends were equally delighted with their fare - go...
Read moreI went here for my friend's birthday on Sunday Bank Holiday. We were trying to find what suited everyone and then left it too late but we did get a booking for half 5. Myself and my friends have variety dietary requirements so the menu suited everyone from our vegan friend to our gulten free friend who also doesn't drink so non alcoholic gin was served to her in a fruity mocktail which she enjoyed. I got the zesty prawn salad and I was close to linked the plate clean it was delicious. The main I had Thai Green chicken curry and I was so full but couldn't leave any it was too good to leave. We got happy birthday sang to us for her birthday. The staff were so friendly, helpful and in tune with their costumers. They knew who got what instead of shouting over our orders. We were already loud enough. Food, staff and atmosphere were top notch. We shall be back. Shout out to the girl with the face painted cheetah for Halloween I didn't get her name but very friendly and well done for...
Read moreWe went on valentine's day. Had the beef teriyaki flatbread and the Chicken rice curry. Rounded up with the raspberry cheesecake. The flatbread was delicious in a way I as a former chef was surprised. Something so simple but though so well executed. The base was the flatbread topped with some tomato chutney the beef was breaded I assume deep fried. Pickled onions and coleslaw. Writing this makes my mouth water. Absurdly delicious. I am not a big fan of curry but my GF cleaned out the plate best she ever had. Moving on to the cheesecake. I assume a triangle shaped piece of cheese cake topped with white chocolate and raspberry sauce. But hands down this was the best cheesecake I've ever had. The crumble base topped with creamy cheesecake mix on top had a layer of raspberry cream and presentation wise everything was on top. Service was super nice. Definitely coming back for more. Thanks for a...
