This hotel is perched up high overlooking the beautiful water and the town of Amalfi. The setting is gorgeous. Theresa, was exceptionally helpful and kind. One of the highlights was going to the restaurant owned by the family who owned the hotel. They provided transportation to and from the restaurant. The food was delicious and when we told them we were celebrating our 50th anniversary they served us a scrumptious cake on a huge platter with a big 50 written in chocolate syrup. It was quite impressive. Our only disappointment was with the lifts that were used to take you to and from the street level and the hotel. There were 3 lifts (very slow moving) and at first we thought it was so charming, but charm only goes so far. Every time we used them at least one of the 3 did not work which necessitated us to walk many steps. The final morning we wanted to leave earlier than when they opened for breakfast because we had a long drive ahead of us. (7:00 am instead of 8:00am). They already took care of getting our suitcases up to our car at street level, but we still had hand luggage. When we tried the first lift, it would not come down to meet us at the hotel, so we hiked up the steps to the second lift. The second one only went a few inches and stopped, so again we had to hike up steps. Finally the third lift didn’t work either, so guess what? Another hike! Over 300 steps carrying our hand luggage. If we were in our early 20’s this probably would have been a minor nuisance, but we are both in our 70’s and it was not a pleasant experience. No one mans the desk, so we couldn’t contact anyone. My advice is if you are young, or in great physical condition and enjoy stair climbing workouts stay in this hotel. If not you may want to...
Read moreThe Villa is set on the hillside above the town of Amalfi and below the village of Pogerola and is beyond incredible on three fronts (1) the villa itself (2) the staff and experience (3) the views. Given how the villa is constructed on the hillside, there is an incredible amount of space and privacy. We were a group of 20 with a lot of small kids and it never felt cramped. The top two floors with the pool and deck are very large and could and the living spaces are also very large. Every detail is incredibly well done and purposeful. The staff is incredibly accommodating and I believe everything is possible at HH Palm. We had the chef one night and wish we did this a few more times as the food and service was fantastic. For those looking to get away from the tourists, the town of Pogerola is a short walk up the hill and offers incredible views and a less touristy flavor. The stairs are a very neat experience and when we were tired, we simply took the stairs to the road and then rode the bus into town (15 mins). Overall, I highly recommend...
Read moreStayed at Le Palme recently with family. 13 Adults and 3 kids. Going anywhere in Amalfi can be tricky with Steps, hills and limited access roads but is it worth it for the views 100%. The views from this villa are breath taking. The reason I gave 4 stars for Location is because of the steps. Once at the villa you need to climb up approx 300 steps to reach the road for busses etc which are steep, And approx 600 steps down to Amalfi town. My advice walk down to the town get the bus back to the hotel Excelsior and walk down to the villa. Down is always easier than up. The staff were very helpful they carried our bags got us extra supplies and were so friendly in passing us daily. There is also man who lives beside the villa and brought us fresh lemons, cucumber and herbs daily. The rooms are very clean spacious and comfortable and no matter where you sit to relax you have a view. I would highly recommend this villa to people just be aware it takes some exercise...
