La Rua Pizze e Delizie — Local services in Amalfi

Recently visited this pizza place and, while the pizza itself was good, the service was atrocious. My experience was soured by the extremely unpleasant attitude of the lady at the counter.

First, she messed up my order, giving me a pizza without tomato, which I only realized after taking a bite. Wanting to be understanding, I didn't complain or send it back, hoping to avoid any wastage. However, ten minutes later, she noticed her mistake and, shockingly, blamed me for her error. She then had the audacity to ask me to pay extra for the pizzas I didn't order. Naturally, I refused, as it wasn't my fault.

To make matters worse, when I attempted to order more items, she refused to serve us. Her hostility and unwillingness to acknowledge her mistake made us feel incredibly unwelcome.

It's a shame because the pizza itself was good, but the service was so poor that I can't recommend this place. Customer service is just as important as the food, and this restaurant failed miserably in that regard. I won't be coming back or...

I'm all about avoiding the typical tourist traps and finding the real local businesses who are often overshadowed. In short, La Rua takeaway is one of those secret gems that provides outstanding food (even desserts) I've had during my entire road trip in Italy. The cherry on top is their affordable pricing. Their pizzas are all handmade with fresh ingredients right before your eyes and you can marvel at its creation through the window to the kitchen. This is perfect for any instagrammers that love filming their food being made. They have a wide and unique variety of desserts which were lovely and fresh. Their attention to detail including packaging and service was that of an elite patisserie. There doesn't appear to be much on this takeaway at present, it appears from Instagram that they opened up in July 2018, just a few months ago. When you're in Amalfi, you'll notice either a lot of restaurants offering the typical first course, second course menu or people sitting on steps in side streets eating fried food, panini and other street food. In 36 degree heat, I didn't fancy sitting down to a huge lunch! And it turns out, many places close between 3-5pm, or some even longer.

So glad I googled around and found this place! A little takeaway deli tucked inside a tiny parade, the counter is stocked with things like mini pizzas, arancini and panuozzo.
