I honestly just don't know where to begin this review. This little hotel is the cutest, cleanest, well appointed, kindly staffed hotel I have seen in a long time. It is housed in an old church with less than 10 rooms. Each room is named after a flower; we stayed in Iris, on the top floor. The rooms are stunningly clean, remodeled with attention to detail like wood beams, beautiful aqua tile floors, lovely detail in the bathroom, shuttered windows, and beautiful views of the mountain towns. The owners and staff are so kind and thoughtful and you can really tell that time and money has been put into making this a 5 star boutique hotel. ||||Our room was spacious, with a full closet, lots of built in shelving, a large bathroom with soaking/jaccuzi tub, a mini bar with purchasable items (on the honor system), a desk and chair, side chair, in room safe, good AC, plenty of towels and tissues. ||||Breakfast is included and was my favorite of all the hotels we visited. It is the traditional European breakfast of meats, cheese, breads, fruits, yogurts and coffee..but I really enjoyed the freshly hard boiled eggs and of course eating on the terrace adds to the experience. It's just lovely. We will always be known now as the guests who ordered too much coffee! (Crazy Americans!) We enjoyed laughing with you guys and thank you for putting up with us. ||||There is parking nearby for cars. While not much is open early in the morning here, we did enjoy that there are a few cute restaurants in the plaza that stay open late at night. Check our Gerry's for sure! (next door) - It's the best bargain in Italy and he will sing you a song, too. ||||There was no iron or ironing board in the room, or on property so that would be our only suggestion. If you don't have a car (which honestly, I think you need) you are at the mercy of bus schedules it's cheap, but hourly - taxis are about $40 just from Amalfi city center up to this hotel. But you cannot walk! So don't try. ||||Overall, I could move into this hotel and live forever. It's just the best! Thank you, gentleman. ...

We stayed at Villa Maria for 2 nights recently and I must say the room was the best we had throughout our Amalfi Coast tour - We just picked B&Bs and one hotel in Positano but this was the most beautiful. We compromised on the location (Pogerola is a small town on the mountain above Amalfi) to get a better accommodation and we didn't regret it. As many other guests say, not having a car is not ideal as you need to rely on the public bus schedule but in our case we managed to walk down (around 35-40 min stairs path) twice, only in the day light straight into Amalfi city centre, took a couple of busses up and had to pay for a taxi EUR 40 only once as we missed the last bus back to Pogerola after dinner. Staff is super nice, room was stunning. We had a Jacuzzi tub but we didn't manage to make it work. If you feel like staying in Pogerola for a meal, we recommend you to try La Capannina restaurant. We expected a bit more from the breakfast as the pictures looked amazing but we can't say it was bad or anything, just more humble than expected. To comment on some other guest about the church's bells, yes it's real. We weren't bothered by it and we are not sensitive sleepers but in case, bring...

Delightful B&B. The rooms are decorated with the traditional local tiles and are spotlessly clean. Andrea and Antonio couldn't be more helpful or welcoming. There are a few wonderful local restaurants just a few steps away (notably Osteria Rispoli). The B&B is situated in Pogerola which is a village high up behind Amalfi. After a busy day driving around the crowded roads and villages, it was such a pleasure to return to this haven of peace every evening and enjoy local food without the hoards of tourists! Highly recommend

Villa Maria is a lovely guesthouse placed in Pogerola, 15 minutes by bus from Amalfi. Antonio, it's owner is an excelent profesional, always ready to help with anything and he provides very good advice about the transport and the services in town, also, the breackfast is included and it's amazing. In the bar placed in front of the house you can enjoy amazing views of the sea and the valley and cliffs. We have enjoyed our days here and we recomend it to everyone.

We spent a night there while backpacking along the Amalfi coast, after getting a well-thought of recommendation to spend the night above Amalfi to avoid the crowds. We absolutely loved it! The location on the trail, the atmosphere, rooms comfy and full of character, breakfast, location by great spots for dinner and groceries... The view... Really, it is such a gem.
