La Formaggeria — Restaurant in Arezzo

This could be a fantastic little place like so many others we enjoyed on our trip but - I think we may have witnessed a complete meltdown. The owner was the only one serving and he was completely oblivious and seemed not to care about all his frustrated customers who waited literally hours with no, or little service. We showed up at 7:30pm and selected a nice bottle of wine from the wall. At that time we were one of two tables. We asked several times for menus and actually considered leaving but already had wine open. We got menus around 8pm, ordered two meals and a salad to start. We ate the salad and the bread, finished the wine and the water and by then it was 9:00pm and the place filled up. At no time did anyone ask us if we wanted anything or tell us food was on the way. Then other folks started receiving food and at 10pm we left 40 euros on the table and departed a restaurant full of normally very patient italians who had mostly lost their patience. It is the only restaurant I have walked out of in 20 or more years. This was mostly a poor experience because the owner showed no interest or empathy for his hungry customers and despite being overwhelmed and understaffed, he kept seating more tables, making it impossible to serve any but a couple of people dinner who appeared to be friends or regulars I would guess. Scrivo una recensione e la scrivo convintamente positiva anche se a mangiare in questo locale non ci sono ancora stato. Ma lo farò senza dubbio perché il titolare, con la sua umanità, disponibilità, cortesia, si è guadagnato tutta la mia ammirazione. Avevo prenotato un tavolo per me e la mia compagna. Apparecchiatura esterna, rischio concreto che piovesse. E così è accaduto. Ci siamo messi a sedere, tempo di ricevere una bottiglia d'acqua e del pane, sono cadute le prime gocce. È a quel punto che lui ha tirato fuori il meglio di sé, mostrandosi accomodante, cortese disponibile: ci ha proposto un posto un po' distante in un fondo, suo, munito di tenda, ma non ci ha forzato. Ci ha esternato il suo disappunto dicendoci di lasciare senza la minima preoccupazione qualora lo avessimo ritenuto opportuno. Un Signore. E le persone gentili e cortesi con i clienti certamente non vendono fumo. Per questo, anche solo per questo, tornerò là e consiglio questo...

Desidero ringraziare le mie amiche Eleonora e Gessica che mi hanno permesso di poter piacevolmente scoprire questo posto che si trova nel centro storico della città di Arezzo. Consiglio di lasciarvi guidare sia nella scelta dei piatti sia dei vini dal preparatissimo e professionale Staff che soddisferà i palati più raffinati con cortesia e simpatia. Un caldo,accogliente ma allo stesso tempo riservato posto dove poter trascorrere piacevoli serate in compagnia dei vostri amici oppure per una pausa di lavoro o meglio ancora un primo romantico incontro.....piatti molti curati,creativi con ingredienti freschi e genuini e soprattutto di qualità con menù gustosi ed accattivanti sia di terra che di mare ed una grande varietà di formaggi.Grazie a tutto lo Staff per l'accoglienza,la cordialità e la simpatia dimostrata soprattutto in occasione dei festeggiamenti dedicati al compleanno della nostra amica...
