I highly recommend this place. The food was amazing, the staff was incredible, the environment was like a big family reunion.
We walked into a hidden gem that only the locals know about. Lively and vibrant, everyone catching up with each other, and no cell phones in sight! The owner and the waiter spoke perfect English. They were super accommodating. Our waiter Nico helped us pick out our dishes after a few questions about our likes and dislikes. And he was spot on! We were 1st served the traditional Bari Rosticceria, it was like a warm hug on a cold, rainy, winter day. The best way I can describe it is; it was very similar to beef stew with just the beef stredded and sauce wrapped in dough and baked to perfection. There are more than 20 flavor combinations. My favorite was the pesto with mozzarella and my husband's was the seafood with capers.
Side note: Try to reserve a table ahead of time. We didn't get to Bari until 8PM, no problem dinner starts at...
Read moreFreshly fried and piping hot, the panzerotti are fantastic! Specializing in panzerotti, La Casa del Gusto‘s menu mainly comprises of various types of panzerotti, from salty to sweet.
Besides panzerotti, the restaurant offers a selection of antipasti and piadine (flatbread sandwiches). Their fried octopus was tasty, although slightly chewy, and their piadina with Bresaola was yummy. The highlight of the dinner was, however, their Nutella and pistachio dessert panzerotto with warm oozing Nutella. The panzarotti themselves are expertly done with a flavorful dough that is yet soft simultaneously, and not greasy at all.
One star deduction, as the kitchen was extremely slow. Despite ordering at 10pm, and a more than half empty restaurant, we waited for about 40min for the panzerotti and another 20min for dessert. Further, the decor leaves a bit...
Read moreVisiting this region we also wanted regional food, and even during our research before booking we came across these tasty dough pockets. We looked at each other and knew, we'd hunt them down.
So when we came across this restaurant and saw that they did many kinds of Panzerotti we knew, we had to try them. Servers were nice and we quickly choose a selection of this heavenly goodness. (For people not sure about size of serving, about three of them per person seem to be average, two if you're not too hungry.)
If you still have some space in your stomach afterwards, give the dolci a try as well. The ricotta, sugar and lemon Panzerotti is heavenly, but the Nutella ones can be very nice as well.
We're still not 100% sure how etiquette thinks those should be eaten, but we'd eat them...
