Beppe, the former architect and owner of some 20 years makes you feel immediately at home. There is zero pretension. On the walls are a few pictures of notable past diners, one of which was Lou Reed. Beppe describes the dishes, the ingredients, and where they come from. His cook who came out to say hello has been with him since the beginning. The discussion is interesting, relaxed, nothing is forced. We started with fresh ripe olives, sauteed with a bit of garlic and tomato, grilled octopus, and croquettes of mussels and potato, a play on the traditional local tiella. We enjoyed the orecchiette with funghi cardoncelli and pecorino, paccheri with an orata ragú, and finally an egg with white truffle.
